Try to experiment??
I pretty much let any ANY basher into my party (unless I was full) over the years. 350+ with ivan, 200+ with lance, not to mention my other alts (i maxed all classes but shifters at least twice, and rarely went solo)
I LIKE fighters as bashers, I DESPISE shifters and bashers. As far as I have seen, ranger (at best) can hardly come even with an slightly above average fighter.
Chun with big wolf AND bola is worth using though, other rangers?, lemme think... who ? (there are several great rangers I never partied with)
Why do I keep posting on a game I don't play ??
Because I played it tons for 6 years, have several friends, and since I'm home sick (6 months +), I got all the time in the world. (you didn't think I'd die being healthy, did you?)

I have to admit I was just like you two, but then Greystar and Lanstro ran a party. Granted it was probably during off hours and maybe they had some >10K stackers, but it was enough for me to back down and reconsider (something that I almost never do with regards to exp/time arguments).
I considered the Lunger argument, saying that the best basher in the mud for him is Dooku (ihho), plus I've done well with machine's mage alt a time or two. Granted course we're necros.....but its still convincing to me to at least consider.
Of course we shouldn't consider the hunga argument because throwing is an ability goes for virtually every class and doesn't really show the specific ability of that one class.

orc alterer with permed stuff (tank + heals carrier + own meds) orc fighter with cblade/whatever (eq) orc ranger with whatever + 300 sinew + bolas (smokes/meds + carry around extra heals (but no dropping) and back up eq) paladin (whatever race) with anything (smokes/meds + eq)
but since 3 man's are better anyway....can ditch either the paladin or ranger
