I just switched my orc ranger over to a necro because well i don't know, but it seemed like a good idea at the time after talking to defunct. I was wondering if the revenants get any better after level 15, or if that's the best i got. And if they don't get any better i'm never going to understand how to pull more than 50k an hour =( but that's probably why i should have stuck with ranger =P

*snicker* Undeads in general are only as good as your level. Sort of like a fine wine, cigar, etc... they only get better with age. Stick it out until you hit lvl 19 or so... it'll get better. What I did with lower level necros, was alternate kills. I'd take out something easy, but high lvl, like wigwog, hermit, imam, etc... then I'd kill 4 or 5 little cash kills. That way you have enough money to pay for the salves you're gonna burn through when you kill the 19s. It's kind of a sucky way to have to play, compared to the old way... but it works... and won't leave ya dead ass broke.

Totally agree with Calvin. I'm kinda new to this whole necro thing, but I've now got one at level 22 and another at 16 (would be higher if I wasn't waiting around to help a friend party... ;D). Cash management is certainly going to be a major concern for any necro. Your undead are not "133t" like they use to be, so you can expect to be burning through lots of salves. At 500 coins a pop, you'd better either be ready to do major cash runs at early levels or be lucky enough to have a sugar daddy who can help you out. Just as a note, I've also noticed that your undead seem to "automatically" level up with you. I liched Jush with a level 15 necro, and he lacked the strength to wield osword one handed. Later on, I advanced to level 16, and suddenly he could do it. So, don't think that you'll need to kill off your existing lich/rev and make a new one to get the benefits of your increased level. Shoot me a tell if you see me online and I'll give you some pointers. I figure it's the least I can do, given that I'm the greatest necro in AA today. Just ask anyone who was around for the two days I failed repeatedly at making a fetch, then loudly announced on the Scythe line: "Damn stupid balance! I think it's been recoded so that you can only make an undead of something near your own level. I mean, seriously, I've been sitting here for two days trying to make a fetch! 'prepare fetch', 'wave wand at corpse'! I mean, come on!" After the howls died down, I learned about this nifty command called "animate corpse". Funny how easy things become when you actually use the right commands.

I've noticed that glock can't wield his own scythe very well after you rev him, that was really depressing. And the combo i used to use an insanely long time ago of JDR and arrow sucks horribly now. Is it just cuz my revenant is only my level so he's not good enough to use it yet?

Well, I'd have to know what level you're at to answer that definitively, but most likely that's it. My favorite setup is a lich with osword, and as I mentioned in another thread my level 15 lich of Jush couldn't even wield it. Plus, he was barely hitting anything with an exquisite rune sword. But I know from experience that, at 19+, lich of Jush + osword = insane damage.
Someone recommended elsewhere on the boards trying out a weapon/weapons for your undead that is closer to the skill cap for a fighter at that level. If you're around level 15-ish, maybe try out a weapon that usually works in the 50-ish skill range. You may also want to try out a pair of orbs. They become perfectly suited in the mid thirties, so your rev should be able to wield them quite well. He's not going to parry as well, but the damage should be quite solid.

Since you last played necros there has been a bugfix to arrows, a downgrade to undead, and two weapon, all of which make jdr + arrow cold suck.
The class is still playable, you just need to play in a different way. I'd agree with gromlakh that using an orb would work when levelling. I made better exp and cash rotting big kills than I did trying to get an undead to be useful at low levels, but at least with an orb they'd do SOME damage.

I've found that killing bort and then reving him and suiting up with fine plate and some equipment to fill in my EQ has done really well and doesn't give a ton of xp, but i'm able to pull in +10k cash in the first half hour and then it goes up from there, which i think is what is more important that xp in this mid sucky levels

Just wondering if anyone could post Lunger's old kill route, tried gettin to his page, but it wasn't up anymore. Or, if anyone could post one of their own -general- lists, not asking for the revealing of your top secrets, just a good guide to start from. Thanks.

Lunger never posted his kill route. I believe his entire "kill route" section was "not a chance," which is likely the same answer you'll get from everyone else here. Everyone has places they like to go, and when they get there they'd prefer that the NPC's be alive. All I can really say is just know what areas have good aligned NPC's and which ones have evil NPC's. Mix it up, rot your way through evil areas to maintain your alignment, and throw in easy cash areas every now and then if you're running low. You'll have to figure out the rest yourself. And no offense, but if you don't know the areas (and NPC alignments, rough cash/exp values, etc) well enough to put together your own kill route, necro might not be the right choice for you right now. Make a dwarf cleric or something easy like that.
