An orc necro is the crappiest thing I have ever played. I don't know what possessed me to play the combination, I don't know how I ever "did so well." I don't know what I was smoking, shooting or injecting in the enema. I don't know why I kept arguing it was better than human necro. I'm sorry for all the bluster and arrogance. It must have felt like arguing with a 1 year old for you guys.
What a waste of a great name on such a crappy character. Well, I guess it could be worse, I could have made my main character an elven fighter.

so either sini just figured out a way to make orc necros rock and he doesn't want anyone to know, or finally realized they aren't that hot.
this'll get interesting!

I would say that the orc necros in this new world orc suck, but what I might be more willing to admit is that I suck. I also forgot how heavy AoI was.

I've also played this horrible combination quite recently and I have to say that it sucked. Perhaps it would be better further on, when staff skill is 50+ (before that you don't hit worth shit) and if I got my hands on enough int uniques to make me a lich. I played around with like 25 staff skill and a revenant of yosra. I tried a couple different weapon combos, dual wielding of course. Most of them sucked ass and the best one was Gathering of the Spiders / Blackened gladius or just dual gladiuses. Wasn't as good as osword on lich though. Of course, osword could work on a revenant too, never tried it but it's probably close to the same as on a lich, but when your revenant parries you tend to want to use np/ap parry weapons...
Anyway, an orc necro with a revenant can kill anything, yes, but if you want to take down something bigger than 3k kills, you'll get screwed cashwise. It's amazing how many preserves you have to throw out. Which leaves no sps for rot/lifesteal which means the killing speed gets shitty.

I will just say it's the revenant that sucks now, not necessarily the orc.
By that extension, dwarven necro also sucks, although there are non-unique ways to get the dwarf to lich, assuming that potion of intelligence at nepeth really does raise int +1.
But anyway, you all are right, I'm wrong blah blah blah. Revenant AC dropped to zero (making a mockery of the revenant description) , made two weapon useful (so I lost cane/arrow), fixed the dual arrow bug which I missed out on. Now that mummies make for better undeads than revenants, it's another excellent performance by balance to completely remove variability from a class. Anyone who doesn't start out as a human necro now needs to mocked outrageously.
AA Olympics, traits, Infidian, new levels, Ancient Anguish you whore, you are such a tease!! Ya almost got me there, but i'm glad you smiled and revealed your toothless grin to me.

The new levels/traits have changed everything quite a bit. I should think about what I would change if I had the opportunity. I would most likely change just about every one of my character races.

Budweiser helped me a lot in strategy and kill selection and the like but my Human necro is level 19 now. hurray. Everyone tells me to use lich of yosra but lich or Arcane Mage from fubs fortress is insanely better. Like holy crap the mage lich tanks everything in the map and you use maybe 2 salves. Wow.
I like using an elemental orb on my lich, i think it does a fair amount of damage and it makes me feel good that my lich is hitting every round.
I got my club skill up to 26 so far.

i miss the days of yore when it was just me and sini and occasionally funky, tasha, or peblo.

I miss the days when it was just me. Occasionally you'd see someone trying to raise one, but rarely higher than level 14 or so.

Yeah, I hated those days. Always racing to see who would get to kresh first. I like my mudding to be nice and carefree with parties led by Akapokos and Callandor, idling clerics hanging out at monks and drunk scythers on the sline.
From what I can see now on those rare times I'm on, it's hard core parties led by Stretch and Dru. And that Jimmu guy mudding for 12 hrs at a time.
Hmmm, nothings changed.

You know it's a shame Revenants are so weak now, cause when I turn my thoughts towards AA (admittedly not all that much) a lot of the analysis is on the orc necro. I think I figured out how to work the orc necro in the new AA and in fact the orc necro is easily the most power necro .... at least for me and my style of play.
I think I'm going to pray to God (the necro one) for guidance and help resolve my spiritual angst.

I went and made that Dwarf Necro (again? No I think it was my friend who had the dwarf necro...)
I too feel like Orc Necro is the lesser choice between the two, however, with all the traits, it really only comes down to a personal preference.
The reason Dwarf is better at first is that he only takes one int/wis unique to make a lich. Cross your fingers that Crosier or T-Crap are not in high-demand (which they shouldn't be. But you never know. Some people just idle with those things for no reason...)

While I'm comfortable with the move to human, for me the Orc Necro, in isolation, is easily the best of the necros. The only problem is... no lich, and of course this is a huge whopper of the problem for the first 30 some odd levels. If I knew then what I know now, there's a 50% chance that I would not have made the switch.
Oh yeah, to all the new necros out there that I have seen lately. Why are you not human and if human, why are you using a revenant? Does playing a lich really bore you that much?
