I have done quite much tankin with both my necros and found these combos useful
party: gilian/cblade/arrow/cane + arrow
solo: cblade/sai/vfr/cane + arrow (why vfr instead of jdr - common sense, vfr is easier to wield but the same parry as jdr so it makes it easier to dual for rev as for alts dualin)

What's the deal with the sai/arrow. Supposedly its the best non-uniquec ombo, but everytime i get around to trying it, I find it to be relatively crappy. I feel like I can read war and peace during the time it takes me to kill monsters.

I never bother getting a sai to use that combo because by the time I get to Zhamarr, I already have a decent combo using something else.
The reason why a lot of people think the sai/arrow is the best combo is prolly because Lunger uses it. (no offence to Lunger) There are plenty of decent combos out there, and I'd say there isn't a lot of difference between them.
Another reason why the sai is decent is because it has a parry of splendid and a weight of 1. For some reason revenant's seem to do well with lighter weapons.
My fav combo is GRD/flint arrow or rondel/flint arrow.

Did some testing on necro weapons combos.
Now we all know that arrows were fudged up a bit a while back as far as dual-wielding goes, but try this.
Grab a revenant of iannis/restful.. get a steel arrow/flint arrow and go out and fight some big bads. You should see quite a few skewers in there, which imo is alot better than pierces with rapiers *shrug*

I have more and more started usin dual arrow again... and all i can say is... flint arrows rocks! hehe especially when u got tagger(s) or basher(s) then u just want dmg, no need to get a protective wpn when u can deal out more dmg ;D

katana/diablo/cblade/nailfile + <item> blows imo i find dual flint much more damaging and effective, cost vs exp

try dual trunks as fighter and i think u got your answer on dual trunk mather
grd + flint already tested and liked by the majority so is dual snickersnees
me myself have not tried orcish sabre + <item> but i think it will do as bad as katana/diablo/cblade (my guess)

i don't understand how you think that the high cblade's don't work. i have used them time and time again with p2 on rev of restful, illarin, iannis, and linnhe now and everytime they have done very well. orcish sabre is very nice, imo.

I'm sort of new to using necros, but i've found snake staff/ flint tipped arrow to be a good combo - it's easy to get, get some really good damage messages, and the parry for snake staff is 'Very Good' (it shows).
I suspect that the poisoning (seems to happen a lot) helps too, but i've no idea what poison is meant to do to npcs.
