Well, the most commonly known usage of the term "gaff" is an iron hook attached to the end of a pole, which one uses to pull fish onto a boat when fishing for large fishies. It's also used to describe a spar attached to the mast on a sailing boat, which is used to extend the edge of a sail. In slang terms, it means a trick or gimmick used to swindle someone out of their money. Of course, those silly Brits, ever ones to find new and interesting ways to misuse their own language, have taken to using "gaff" as a nickname for their dwelling. Did you know that in England, it's acceptable to tell someone that you want to "knock up" their daughter next time you're in town? (As in, go to her house and knock on the door...) And if you ask your buddy to borrow a rubber, because you're going out to the "pubs" and hope to get lucky, he's most likely going to hand you a pencil. And a "boot" isn't just something you wear on your feet, it's also something you throw your luggage in when you drive your car. And a truck, is a "Lorry", whatever the hell that is... Oh well. It is their language, and I suppose they have the right to do goofy stuff with it. *peer* (Oh, and just in case any Brits read this, and get offended...... bugger off!!! ) (they do have some funny ways of telling people to fuck off... hehehe...) I heard all this stuff like 15 years ago from my sister's pen-pal who came over to visit for the summer... so I don't know if all those things are still in use.

Burgers? As in, cheeseburger, or hamburger? *ponder*
And yeah, I do have a sister... but she's already knocked up. In fact, she should be going into the hospital any day now to push the little bugger out. *peer*
