most of what I remember about fury on the testmud if kinda foggy atm. Basically set defend = none, type fury on and get 2 hits per round while the sps are drained away. One thing I remember is that 2weap didn’t make quad hits and that the emotes made it seem like your character was genuinely pissed off. seems like a gold smoking basher would be the shizznit
Anyone else get a chance to play with it? i only soloed around daliar for a few hours

It also seems like you lose some potency in your average hits by not being in berserk (makes sense, right?) but then there are some seriously huge hits you can make every once in a while... gonna take some time to finally decide if it's worth using. For now I'm happy with berserk.

Here's a clip from a log of Tanus testing out Fury on me. These are two of the special attacks you can get hit with. We went thru 43 rounds and he only hit me with 2 of the special attack......... thank God. HP: 210 SP: 186 Tanus impaled your arm sharply. Tanus' rapier cracks into his opponent with a loud crack! HP: 78 SP: 186 203:186> With a mighty heave, Tanus swings his rapier into you. HP: 89 SP: 186 HP: 75 SP: 186 Tanus slashed your body viciously. And supposedly, what weapon you're wielding plays into how much damage you do with the special. He was using dual jdrs... Hello. Can anyone imagine what the damage is gonna be for Kraky or Crescent?? *peer*

So are you advocating its use? It seems like on an average of once every 21.5 rounds would make it likely you would get a big hit like that at least once per combat against a big critter... which would more than make up for the lack of bonecrush/massacre damage that you lose by not berserking... right?

Would 1 in 20 or so rounds be worth it, though? Most things die far shorter of that in a party, so you wouldn't be using it on all kills, while berserking bashers would be doing more damage on just about every hit. It doesn't seem worthy if you're giving up hitting every monster for extra damage just to hit one poor unlucky bastard really hard out of many monsters.

It really depends on the weapon you're using, and the skill you have in it, whether or not you're dualing, what level you are, etc etc etc. It's gonna take a LOT of playing around and watching the damage you're doing to really make a good determination on which is better. I have the feeling that Fury will be better for the higher levels, especially with dual weapons. I'd say play with it, and test weapon combos, and see what works and what doesn't. *shrug* But partying for an hour with one set of weapons at lvl 22 and saying "fury sucks" ain't gonna cut it.

At a very first glance, for a medium level, medium skill i could say Fury seems not indicated. It looks like an exaggeration of berserk, but the hit/miss ratio is worse, so you could place the devastating hit (not likely) while you are hit more and not hitting efficiently for most of the time. In my opinion it makes sense, otherwise it would give a superior boost to skilling pace. This might confirm Calvin's idea of Fury being best suited for hi level skills. Will post more on the use of fury at low-mid level... stay tuned

Any idea what's wrong with my avatar? Boards' images seem to be a bit screwy since they were upgraded.

Some cool damage messages that I got playing with fury:
You stab Rock guardian's's vital parts, causing an ear shattering shriek.
You slam your crystal blade into Knight's side, you hear the dull crunch of shattered bones
With a blood curdling howl, you skewer your crystal blade into you body.
You thrust your crystal blade into Dragon's shoulder, salivating madly as his wailing reverberates through the room.
You charge forward, impaling Princess on your crystal blade, causing her to bellow in agony as you twists it inside.
---
Ok, so I've played with Fury for the last five hours on AA, got over 500k exp in 5 hours (not bad on average) and only one skill.
I'd say that I'm doing more damage on the whole, but less per hit - not sure how it's effecting my skilling, except that I feel like I probably ought to be moving faster (the skill I got was 98-99 after nearly 300k of fighting today)
I have no idea how much damage the above listed hits were doing, but they look cool.
On the other side of it, I'm carrying around at least 8 bottles of extra weight between smokes and meds that I wouldn't be if I were just berserking. Also the party exp wasn't noticably higher in a party w/ a tank and two fury-using bashers.
Doesn't seem like it's helping out much, but doesn't seem to be hurting either... just something different. Thus far I'm willing to say that it's six of one or half a dozen of the other...

Believe me when I say the typos in the damage messages could have been a lot worse - every message had at least one. The thing was, rather than Paldin going through every message in the code, I had to use a bunch of weapons and check the specials manually - so a lot slipped through.

"With a blood curdling howl, you skewer your crystal blade into you body."
did this actually damage you?
if you ask me those dmg messages should've been added on top of berserk damage, with more powerful attacks coming with more levels.

After playing a bit more with fury, I must say that the best part of it is -at least for me- the two attacks per round it gives.
Still no new damage messages for me (Orc fighter, solo, lev 15 maxxed stats, ls at 70 wielding xrune), but I had 2 skills from 70 to 72 within 50k total experience. Used fury seldom, only after disarming, rest of the time i was on riposte.
Oh and I like the line in the player description too... 'xxx looks very angry'.

Wow. You're a fighter. And you use riposte. And you just admitted it on a public board. *comfort* And I think that fury gets better the higher in level you get... so I'd imagine that it would probably suck monkey balls at lvl 15. I do have to agree with Lunger... it woulda been MUCH nicer if the berserk damage was still there. Cuz, at least for now, with the limited amount I've played with it, and the limited weapon combos I've used with it..... it seems like the damage you get when in berserk outweighs the extra hits, and the special damage attacks you get for most of the weapons I've tried. At best, like frosty said, fury vs berserk seems to be about an even draw. But...... I guess we gotta keep testing damage and stuff before we write it off. Who knows, some of those damage messages could be even better damage than the others.
