I've read posts and talked to players who have reached level 19 in less than 24 hours of play. I've been working my tail off for a 2 day old character now and he is only level 10!
Is there a guide somewhere that tells how to advance as quickly as possible?

my two cents..... players who have done this are among the elite on this game, they know the game inside out , back to front and sideways....prob blindfolded too if this is only your 1st 2nd or even 10th character...forget it... yake your time learn the game...and heaven forbid...*gasp* even enjoy playing in the newbie areas....

Is there a guide somewhere that tells how to advance as quickly as possible? its pretty much experience and knowing what to kill, and when to kill it. when sinister and i were competing on the lifetime efficiency list, we'd hit level 19 in like 4 hours of play. like morask of honorary no-longer-a-proboards-harassee fame said, if its your 1st through 10th chars, chances are it is not likely to happen. this game has an insane learning curve, and you just have to spend your time climbing it like everyone else.

Thanks for the replies.
It's true that I'm only on my 5th character, but I've been playing the game on and off since 1997. My problem is that I always lost interest around levels 10-13. However, I vowed to get a level 19 character before I die. Now that I'm older, I definately understand the game more.
I was playing the other day and tagging with some level 25 players. I'm amazed at how fast they can move around the game, know what to kill and how fast they kill, and the fact they never get lost. I find myself constantly quitting and rejoining to get back to an area I know. Especially since Lorius hates me now.
Anyway, thanks for the advice. I have studied Rhynst's guide and it has helped me get a feel back for the game. Other than that, I guess I'll just keep reading these forums for any additional insight.

You need to know the mud. Lots of memorization needed.

memorization comes with repetition. i suggest keeping a notepad and pen next to the comp so you can take notes. that always helped me when i was first learning the mud or a new area.

Actually, I started making notes using Microsoft OneNote. It's definately helped me find locations that I've been to. Still having a hard time finding my way back to XRoads after getting lost. So far, quit is my favorite command.

Buy a sorcerer's map. Learn the coastline, and learn to follow it back to tantallon when you get lost. Find a ficer to make you an amulet of escape. it'll cost you a bundle, but it'll get you back to a class hall from nearly anywhere in the game.

Edit: Buy a sorcerer's map like Drue said. But bookmark this page: uk.geocities.com/mootshovel/map.htmlThat's a full map of the Anguish continent. Just look at the sorcerer's map, compare what it shows to this map, and you should NEVER be lost. And if all else fails. The ocean, is on the east. Go east.... wander north. If ya don't hit anything you recognize before you run into a river.... go south. I still have to do that occasionally when I get turned around, like if I'm in the middle of foraging, and go afk for a bit and forget where I was... and I've been on AA for 13 years!! *peer* And if you're playing on Infidian....... sio.midco.net/aa/info/infidianmap.html
