so i log in after boot and see that there are mad people claiming. seems like a guild war between kniggets and scythers. so what did i do? i logged my knigget, p3, and claimed about a thousand rooms. no sweat. i received four tells from scythers i know asking why i was claiming for kniggets and not with my scyther alts. does it matter? i just found this incredibly comical.

Hehe... that's funny. *snicker* Does it matter? Nah. You just helped the knigglets hold onto geo for a while, and made it so the Scythers on couldn't use geo knapsacks. *shrug* Of course, I always had a suspicion that you're not really a Scyther at heart. *grin* I mean, you have a dwarf cleric, and you make him a knigglet instead of a Scyther... on purpose. How much more obvious could it be that you're really a tree-huggin, goat-humpin, wimpy little twit? *duck* Of course, I have a bunch of alts that aren't in scythe. All the elves and half elves, of course. And paladins. And I have ... uh..... *think* Oh wait. All orc, dwarf, and human non-paladins ARE in scythe. *snap* Oh well, guess I didn't have a point. Of course, if I get home and can get knapsacks cuz knigglets own geo, I'm gonna have to hurt ya........... *peer*

point: i love claiming for other guilds and pissing the scythers off. just cracks me up when people EXPECT to log on and see that scythe owns geo. heaven forbid they might actually have to work for something.. and it doesn't take that much at all if 5-6 people claim about a thousand rooms.

heh. Yeah. I just looooove coming home from a long, hard day at work, logging in thinking I've got a few precious hours to play aa, and ending up falling asleep claiming rooms for an hour so I can use geo knapsacks. Yep. My idea of fun, for sure.
keep up the good work!

*shrug* It's NOT always Scythe's. I'd say about 1 our of 5 times I log in, I have to gclaim to beat out bears of knigglets or elfdar. That don't sound like "always scythe" to me.
I'm a Scyther. Scythe is my guild. If I have an alt or 20 that can't possibly be in Scythe because of race/class, I'll join other guilds. (usually knigglets or elfdar, cuz I really don't like the chaos, cubs or birdies, and monkies are pretty much blah.) But I'm still a Scyther at heart. Do I get annoyed playing those non-scythe alts and not being able to use geo knapsacks? Yeah, a little... but no way in hell will you see me gclaiming for the guild I'm in at the time. UNLESS I'm going to tank, and want to use aog/hoh. Then I gclaim just enough to get the armour and quit.
Call it guild loyalty, whatever. I thought that most of the people I consider true scythers would feel about the same as I do... but I guess not... *wink*

I used to be like Calvin.....go Scythe....rah rah rah...break out the pom poms.... Unfortunately, since 1994-5, (yeah ancient school), the guild has been filled with prissy girly whiners, the type of people Tehlung snickers at in his session messages.
Me? I adjust, adapt, add people to my $hitlist and just keep rolling. Others like to waste my time reading their complaints...yeah yeah sticking it to the establishment. I see it as acting French.
So if this is the new scythe, then yeah I'm not a scyther at heart. The old mythical Scythe is dead, long live the french-scythe.

hehe, the current session is a parody of machine's.
sini hit the nail on the head though. there's 5ish good, quality scythe players nowaydays. maybe less. the rest leech off of them for the title and the free eq.

ok... STOP it now... gah... i dunno how many posts i have read with "go claim and shut up" or somethin very similiar... THEY ALREADY KNOW THAT AND DO THAT.... adv board and this board is overrun with posts of that kind... and i totally understand calvin's point and machine's and just to state.. i claim if i feel it's needed for scythe that i claim.. i don't claim if they are like 300 rooms ahead or 1000 or whatever.. then i'm so egoistic that i just played with the sacks...

Heaven forbid we might hafta work for it? Maybe if you pay attention to the subject before jumping in "just to piss people off" you'd find out that I had been -discovering- up to, and sometimes over, 1000 rooms a reboot. That's just me alone. Not to mention Shewas, Schwansman, and that C-named newbie who consistantly put up over 500 claims a reboot.
Ever since the Levek/Law situation we *HAVE* been working hard at it. I guess it was a wake-up call. Things are normally given to us on a silver platter, but someone has to put forth the effort into making things possible. All the Scythers just assumed someone else would gclaim, because of the fact we've owned GEO 90% of the time since it's arrival. We got lazy and lost GEO a few times, but nobody linked laziness with the losses. Now we're back to somewhat of a solid gclaiming crew. A solid discoverer and a few claimers to flip and/or reinforce cairns.
And the competition is fine. We'll always crush as long as at least one person is willing to take the sacrifice in a long few hours of steady discovering. It's just crap when your guild is holding your own, then all the sudden someone who doesn't even care about knapsacks or the guild's GEO rank decides to claim for the rivals just because "it's fun to piss people off".
I don't really care. I was in a pure-GEO mood that night and ended up with 2000c/1200d. And we won.
*shrug*

Note: Please disregard my post, if naivety itself disproves my line of reasoning. I think the key to taking control of the Geo Society is consistency. As Machine noted, we have some big league discoverers in Scythe. If we continue to put up numbers (lowbie claimers included), there will, undoubtedly, be individuals who prepare themselves to ride the train. The same goes for the awesome hand-me-down equipment. On the same note, with consistency comes standards. Other guild members will pick up the sword and understand that this is what we do. We party hard to the point of reputation. With time, I hope we will also maintain any and all perks we can amass without conversation ever again; allowing our actions to speak before we enter the room. The presence of the Scythe should be felt from the moment of entrance and not from the venom or sour piss flavoring contained within commentary. Alas, Long Live the Scythe! *headbutt*
