So I'm looking over the traits
I have a couple ranks of relaxed mind, nothing else though.
Are the improved dex/int worth 130 points each?
What about packmule, enough space to be worth it?
Glutton/Drunkard worth it?
Clean spirit, for the magical tolerance reduction?
Anything else I haven't considered?

Various traits are geared towards different playing styles. Your base traits that you can't really go wrong with are Relaxed mind Hard Skinned Healthy Drunkard Glutton Next depends on what you want said magey to do Tank, Bash, Solo..I wont spell out a certain build as half the fun is creating your own character based on what you think is the best, but i'll just various pro's/cons of various traits i've found. Clean spirit - grab at least 1 rank, you'll be amazed how good just 1 rank is depending on your playing style Weapon expert - most people seem to forget how skilling works when it comes to this trait.. Skill focus only increases your skilling speed, weapon expert increases how much damage you do, thus increasing your skilling speed..DUH! No brainer, choose staff unless you have 5-6 hours a day spare to raise some unusual skill. Deft hands/Marksman - depends on your playing style on how usefull these 2 traits are, you 'should' use thrown always but sometimes you just can't be bothered or it isnt $$ viable Sturdy - I tank with my mage and I don't use sturdy...I feel its a waste of a trait space, you gain 4 hp's each time you level, Maybe if you are a wee elf.. Racial Hates - Maybe grab Human/Undead/Orc later on down the road, definatly not on the top of the list. Racial hates are weapon damage only, so it helps having strong weapon skill, but note they also increase skill rate. Medic - I'm still playing around with this trait, i've got it at 3 on my mage and its just starting to be good. Increases how much medicinals heal you, good for all styles of play. But some may see it as a waste of a trait slot. Dodge - Again still testing with my mage, only at rank 2 and its not worth it yet...one day maybe Packmule - Avoid, if you cant carry enough things as a mage you are doing it wrong. Exc Dex/str/int - sadly most mage spells work on base int, not increased int. Handy to have the extra sps, but dont get too excited about it, Save a spot for it, along with Str and Dex find a rainy couple of months and work towards them slowly. Pure Soul/Unnatural memory - These are a waste until you die. (ha) In this day and age i'd choose pure soul over memory. Up to you though.
