Ok, does anyone know if this thing is worth it? I've heard it makes you take less damage if you're berserking....does it make you deal more? Take a lot less? I'd test, but dont have enough time of late to do so.....

Whatever you did to get 500k in an hour tanking with your Fighter and One Basher is probably correct... I'm surprised you didn't use a notebook. Did you use fury or an actual defense? It's easy to get. Nanji swore by it, as a necessity for a solo Fighter. So I've been using it, but I haven't quite pulled any decent numbers soloing; partially because I'm working low skills and simply not playing my fighter enough. Aside from equipment though, what was your recipe?

Ok, recipe? Hmm....well, my eq was thusly-Staff of Tarran, Gauntlet of Tarran, xxx's tower shield of the defender, spc, AoG, HoH, geo boots, gammy, zark regen ring, and bog. I WAS using defend block, no point not since GoT gives +40 blocking and tower shield is ap blocking...had a permed ar too....dunno, AoG, HoH, gammy, and ring were all blessed and i bashed everything that would fall....but i was suprised, even sydie and hguards didnt hurt me really, did whole hyf and had bout 1/3 of heals left, so re-upped and did sydie...then yosra, still had heals, so kept goin on big stuff, jush and such....it was really quite amusing, as it seems you're in the same school of thought I was that fighter's couldnt really tank all that well, but it worked. of course, nice ac(blesses ar and tarran) and bashing stuff helps, had leugan, human ranger with 80+ 2ha using rakar, he stayed through it all, and like i said, ptoro came and went, thats about it tho....oh yea, orc fighta, lvl 23 with 98 natural blocking and staff at 96.
My real question was is that is the notebook worth getting? I mean, will it offset enough dmg while berserking to compensate for the dmg you wouldn't take while blocking/parrying? I mean, without GoT or some crazy sh*t like that....

The fighter notebook works kinda like this: When you're in defend none, that's kinda like being in neutral as far as defense goes. In fury or berserk, they actually lower your natural defense... so you get hit a lot more than just defend none. Blocking, you get a chance to use your shield to block any hits that would've normally smacked ya, and the chance to block is based on your blocking ability. Ditto for parry/riposte/dodge. (Although dodge is based on your dex, your carry capacity/encumberance, and your opponent's dex.) So in berserk mode, without the book, you'll get hit more than defend none, BUT.... you hit a lot harder in berserk mode than anything else. So, to make up for you doing a LOT more damage, they make it so you get smacked down a lot quicker. You can make up for that deficiency easily by just bashing, and not getting hit period. Or, you can get sick eq, that makes your overall AC so damn high, that you don't notice the extra damage done to you... and the shit dies faster cuz you're doing more damage... so it makes up for the defense loss. What's so darn cool about the notebook, is that it boosts your your natural AC, about back up to defend none, perhaps a slight bit higher. It takes a buncha SPS to read it to get the full defense bonus, and then as time passes, it'll say you forget more about berserk defense, etc, and you lose a little bit of the defense. So you read it again, and for some more sps, it'll recharge to full power. It doesn't make a fighter tank as good as a cleric or pally or anything like that as far as heal efficiency goes, but it does enough to offset the damage you'd normally tank if you're tanking in berserk. So if you're like me, and you either solo or tank 95% of the time you play your fighter alt.... yeah, it's worth it. The only time I don't use the notebook since it came out, is when I know I'll be bashing, or if I'm testing fury damage, or know I'm going to use a big weapon that does more damage in fury mode than berserk. (higher lvl you get, the more damage fury does, and there's a breaking point where it's worth the sps drain from fury to get the extra damage over berserk. ie. steel greatsword, chain staff, kraky, etc.) hope that kinda answers yer question. (And PS. Sinny, ya can kiss my ass when you reply about the "Calvin Book" post. ) Edit: btw... this is all kinda generalized, not really the exact way it works, but close enough for you to get the point without revealing too much behind the scenes code type shit.
