Ranger's can craft arrow's and forage for herbs. I think a possible next step could be foraging items to create poison's with. Ranger's could then apply that poison to arrows or edged weapons. There are many different potential combinations of poisons that a Ranger could potentially make from wilderness herbs.
Anyhow - - just an idea. Please leave feedback.

This is in the game. Rangers can forage a poisonous herb - nightshade. Rogues can use nightshades to poison their knives or arrows. It's not particularly strong, however.

Let me elaborate on this idea. The only poison in the game is "poison". It has no true type and is general. There are so many herbs in the real world that have varying effects--and applying that to the game might make it more interesting.
There could be poisons that force a player to randomly unwield a weapon. Poisons that prevent eating or swallowing of liquids. Poisons that temporarily lower stat points. Poisons that force random movement's. Poisons that drain spell points. This could go on and on.
My next post will list herbs and their real life effects. I will try to translate that into "in-game" effects.

Looks like a dictionary entry: a'pos'tr'aph'e'

"Methink's yo'u sh'oul'd l'earn ho'w to''' use' 'an a'pos'tr'aph'e'."
Methinks you should post that on the pedantic and asinine board. He's not submitting a thesis ffs.

That sounds intriguing, Bloodthorne. I'd buy a quiver filled with arrows of disarmament or any other functional effect.
Something like that could work nicely, if one were to: 1) Carry a quiver of the poison/chemical effect arrows. 2) Sling arrows at an NPC until you crit the effect. 3) Switch to a proper melee weapon and try to finish the NPC off before the effect fades.
Is that akin or compatible with your thought?

Aki: That's precisely what we did on DAoC MMO. Use one item until it procced (caused a process), and then switched to another weapon until the effect wore off. Much of the time, people used a debuffing proc like -cold res and then switched to a cold damage proccing or damaging weapon.

Is that akin or compatible with your thought? That is indeed what I was thinking. The poison would have a % of proccing each combat round. So let's assume that you have Aconite poisoned arrows. Aconite has a multitude of effects including; numbness of the tongue and mouth. Let's say you are fighting in some sort of player vs. player environment - - it would prevent one from eating or drinking. While in a player vs. mobile environment it might prevent spell casting. Your point is valid too - - poison procs, then switch to a dps weapon. Anyhow I appreciate the feedback.

How to you get Aconite poisoned arrows? Yes I'm sucking the teet; never even heard of it. You don't. He was just suggesting an idea in hopes that it would be implemented into the game. This thread is a decade old too unfortunately AA has basically died, at least in terms of social interaction. It's completely turned into a single-player game, the people who still play don't really participate in forums or websites (proboards, aawiki, etc) and barely interact on the in-game boards too. A lot of players don't really seem interested in expanding their knowledge of the game, most of them who still play are just dead-set in their ways, hence why places like this are stagnant. My point is that you won't see many responses to anything you post on the proboards. Don't get me wrong, I'm right there with you, I love learning about and discovering cool things in the game, but AA "researchers" are few and far between these days. If research is in your interest you might want to check out sites.google.com/site/anguishresearch/ and look into the "Contribute" tab, that's sort of the last remaining items in AA that haven't been "discovered" per say, by being posted publicly on sites like Proboards, AAwiki, or the in-game boards. I'm sure there's plenty of people who know this information, but it hasn't been posted or discussed in a public community. Most everything else you have questions for can be found in the "Guide" - it's literally every single AA site rolled into one place. If it's been discussed online, it's there.
