If a fighter has a high 2weapon, and maxxed ls and ss skills.. can he now effectively use both?
I know before the change you couldn't use ls/ss combo because of the suckage.. just curious about now..

Yep. Vorpal blade / wakizashi was a decent combo... so's fine broadsword / wakizashi. I'd imagine that most any mid-higher end longsword wielded in right hand, and any high end shortsword in left would do pretty decent.
The scary thing is, most any combo, as long as they're decent weapons, and not heavy as heck, will do pretty darn good damage with high 2weap skill. I tried out a fine broadsword in right, vorpal blade in left, and it was pretty damn good. Not quite as much damage as dual jdr, or cblade/jdr... but the disarm was pretty damn good. Better than dual jdr anyways.

thought: longswords use attack slash, shortswords use pierce. dual together weapons that are of alike attack styles..

shortswords slash just fine - i'd say that they do a modicum more damage on slash than pierce (based on the fact that i appear to shear using slash more often than i skewer using pierce with wolfblade). course, it's always worth switching to pierce for opponents in platemail etc.
it's be nice if certain obvious combinations (katana & wakizashi, for example, or any rapier & main gauche) gave some sort of bonus to 2 weapon skill or to effectiveness.
