I attempted to wait this out so I didn't have to be the guy to ask it, but I'm a bit confused on two weapon, partially because my char I've been playing isn't a fighter so I haven't really tried this out much. At any rate, just a general question of...
If I have, lets say, two canes like you fighters love to use, am I going to only raise two weapon, and no club, or will they both raise. I assume club would raise slower than it used to when dualing with canes, unless of course you have 100 two-weapon. Anyways, good luck to you fighters and your 1700!

this is the way i read the new skill:
1. let's say you are dualing canes at skill level 30 in club. just for shits and giggles, let's also say that you have 30 in two weapon as well. while working this skill, you will be working both skills at once.
2. if you have 80 staff and 0 two weapon, and, according to the old school of thought, wielded dual branches, you are not going to hit (or even attack) twice every round. you will hit noticeably with the primary weapon, just not with the second weapon until you increase two weapon.
3. two weapon skill (according to paldin) is going to be extremely difficult to raise, harder than exotic and mms.
4. if you ever desire to have 100 in two weapon, start working it now. you might get it by the 22 century.
5. i am sexy.

This topic has became kind of hot lately, not really on this bored so much, but around the mud. I just wanted to explain some of the reason behind two weapon, and its benefits that a "higher superior" enlightened me on.
1) Combat has always had two weapon skill in it, but its always been kept at 0, because the powers that be were unsure of how to implent it.
2) It is going to be very slow
3) The reason why we have never been able to dual two good weapons, is because our two weapon has always been at 0 and unable to advance. Now, with increasingly higher two weapon skills we can wield stronger weapons. I believe it will venture beyond dualling canes or arrows, or a jdr and a arrow or whatever, and possibly into weapons that actually start causing fierce damage.
4) The down side that I'm foreseeing, now if this senator is actually telling me the truth here, it sounds like if someone is oh, at 100 LS/100 TwoWeapon, dualing lets say something not really big but not small like two fine steels, they are going to still be fucking shit up. So what I think might happen, is that eventually when we start hitting high TW skills a long with the other skill to accompany it, that eventually they will try to downgrade the damage fighters are doing. Unless of course they have thrown some wicked curve at the end to disable us from doing this. So the tradeoff it seems fighters have made, without much if any approval, is instead of jumping club up with 2 canes really quick, or other stuff like that, that they will be able to do more damage in the end. I suppose we won't find out, but this is just a theory, maybe to chew on until this gets fully tested. I hope this ends up being a plus.

I tested two handed skill extensively on T-Mud, and it's mainly a balance issue. However, fighters seem to be getting the worst of it. They way it's designed, it's intended to be used with a skill that is moderate to high level. Let's just say anything about 40 or so. You could still raise indepedent skills while dual wielding, as you would in the past. But raising two handed will be very difficult to get 100 at. *shakes fist* damn necros!

Two weapon is slow for all other classes. When I say slow, I mean I've spent nine hours on it so far and got Two Weapon 1 with my ranger.
However, there is hope. You can cast enhance skill on Two Weapon. Your skills: *snip* Two Weapon 1(+18) *snip*

Here's my take on Two Weapon...
Before you even attempt to raise it, get the skill of the weapon you plan on dual wielding to at least 40-50. You're gonna wanna be able to actually HIT so you get an oppurtunity at making a second attack.
Wield a perfectly suited weapon in your primary hand. If possible, wield a stat or skill enhancing weapon in your off hand. If not, then try to find something "excellent" or at least "fine" for your off hand. I wouldn't use a perfectly suited, because it seems there's negatives given to both weapons, so sticking with prime ps is okay, but the negatives would kinda make a ps weapon too hard, while making an excellent ps and a fine excellent.
If you're soloing for Two Weapon skills, be wise and go after unarmoured opponents. If you're bashing, make the most of barbed darts, boomerangs, and bolas. Mage hastes and rogue trips are very helpful, too.
All in all, it's all common sense. If you wanna learn, you have to practice. If you wanna practice, grab two weapons that aren't insanely hard to use... just use some common sense and think about what you're about to wield. If you use it and miss horribly for 20 rounds, try something else. Generally stick to lighter weapons in your off hand, and even your primary hand, too.
Lastly, don't hold your breath. I've got 72 Two Weapon skill now, and it's taking over 500k per skill. I can only imagine 90-100 will be anywhere from 5 million to 10 million per skill, if not more.

good advice, I appreciate the help machine, but was wondering if you are starting to notice any good damage coming from it? One of the goals of this was supposed to be giving us the option to dual bigger weapons and hit with them, just wondering if you've noticed that your starting to do more with 2 of whatever compared to 1 osword, etc...

74: 21> eval orb You carefully examine the elemental orb.
It looks like a moderately difficult weapon to use. Compared to other weapons of similar difficulty this one looks like it would do an average amount of damage. This weapon looks very poor for parrying.
This is an excellent exotic weapon for you to use.
74: 21>exa orb This is a small orb that fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. When wielded it floats slightly above your palm and inflicts devastating elemental attacks on your opponent. Looking at the orb it appears to contain a myriad of colours constantly shifting around under its surface. It looks heavy.
there are two types of orbs, ice based attack and fire based attack.
weight 3bottles.
there is also a mod diff avg damage two handed exotic, named "a set of poi"

I haven't bothered wielding the orbs yet... dual exotics again?? *puke* *spit* No thanks... --- but --- I've seen what a pair of the fire orbs do to the housecarls and crew up in the frost giant area. Sickness. Housecarls die fastlike with em... real fast.
