I saw this site a while back, but then it was almost empty.. now it has a new wolf page, with finally all the stats descs one place.. oh, and this is the page I will tell all those newbie rangers to read.. has the start of a newbie guide, and the trick on how to get the sylvantic pups without killing, as long as you are under level 5..

VERY good stuff, this. It's confirmed a lot of what I thought. I'm curious how this person knows the eye desc stuff, though.

Ooh! This site just answered one of my nasty unexplainable results for me.
Okay, here was the problem (the big one that made me remove the wolf info from my page): Uhaul's gigantic wolf kept advancing levels once it hit maximum size. Other wolves didn't advance as many. I couldn't explain it.
The answer was, they started at different sizes. So, Uhaul's still had a load of extra levels to go at the end, whereas people to tamed small didn't.
So, let's say there are two half-elf rangers, one who tames big and one who tames small. The person who tamed big will get to gigantic (faster?), but still have stats to advance. The person who tamed small will reach gigantic with better stats, but have less stats to advance.
SO! This probably means that when a wolf bonds with you, its stats are all put down to the same level, the 'bonded wolf' stats instead of the 'small sylv pup' stats. If this is the case, it doesn't matter WHAT wolf/dog you tame, they'll end up with the same stats.
Oh, and Ebot posted some high ACs on the ranger board, if I recall. And it's missing the spam-petting trick to remove armour chinks (tested and proven, folks!).

Uh. Smallest wolves are the best though. Everyone is saying if you don't train your wolves at earlier levels, they're harder to raise later. True stuff.
Training the smallest wolves and getting all the skills early is the best way to raise the wolf. Since, yanno, the skills get harder as the wolf levels but they also go UP as the wolf levels. Getting a good headstart means the harder skills get increased in the levelling rather than stupid skills. And since the skills are tierd on int and stuff rather than wolf size, it also means your wolf can carry/guard/rescue sooner.
Who knows, maybe getting all those skills up superfast is the way to get the big eye descs. *shrug*
Ima test this soon by bonding with a big sack of lard and seeing when I can ravage/carry/guard/rescue.

Ebot is just a sneaky bastard who tend to tease ya if u ask for pointers/hints/help/spankin

Another thing... Ebot said his wolf got the Watch your every move when his wolf could guard 10 items.. both my wolves can guard more then 10 items.. and they are still just alert and i always have it carry stuff and guard stuff so *scratch again*
And if eyes were only Int based shouldn't it be like the other stats.. "seem" to lower when wolf lvls instead of raisin when wolf ages

just make a point... Observed the dwarf ranger wolf 3 times in a row and the helf ranger wolf 3 times in a row
**** Dwarf ranger **** You carefully observe an enormous brindle trained wolf. He is a wolf. An enormous brindle trained wolf looks like an adequate opponent. He is in perfect shape. He appears to be well-toned, moves with practiced ease and is sturdy. He looks to be armoured. He has no obvious weak spots.

Recently I've trained a few wolves/dogs to test a couple of things out, and found at least part of the secret for the eyes.
I recently tamed betty the royal dog. Well once she hits trained size she drops down to a little weak (which you can't increase at that size), then once she gets her eyes they start out at the bottom eye desc (vacantly). Well, as soon as I maxxed out str (using carry) and dex/con, the eyes moved up.
I believe the eyes are lvl/stats based. So make sure to ensure you max each stat asap after gaining levels.
