I think it's a viable option, as his str + dex is 33, where as orc is 34, human is 33, elf is 32, and helf is 31. Trip says that it's determined by str, dex, and alert and if that is truly the progression of importance i would think more str is better than more dex. My rogue is level 9 with 22 curved blade so he's doing okay and i'm likin' it!

Any bets on whether this character makes it 2 weeks without being suicided?

Good luck, glad to see you didn't quit the game altogether. And I don't think it's your skill set that's the problem with getting over level 21. I know with me I get a little overconfident at times.

When you are dual wielding, do you have your parry skill applied to each weapon individually, or is it applied universally that you have a 90 in your parry skill and that's applied to the whole scheme? Just wondering if a dual wielding tank would be a stronger front than a single weapon with alert on.

I'm fairly certain only the parry of the mainhand weapon matters. If the offhand gives a bonus to parry or alert it can help, but the actual parry of the weapon doesn't matter.

So there isn't a hope of double parry/riposting?

no.
There are as said above some weapons that increase parry/riposte that make dueling more attractive, but that is about it

I must say, you definitely take the road less traveled when traiting out new characters.

personally I dont think you should take 2 points in any trait until at least level 21 once you have 6 or 7 independant traits already. In the long run it really doesnt matter, but getting traits like relaxed mind/healthy, drunkard/glutton, hard skinned, skill focus, etc are definitely more useful to pre level 10 characters then say clean spirit(who pounds murkies with 84 max hitpoints anyway?).
Racial hate is great, but if you're only doing 3-8 damage a round and missing often I don't really see the point. Maybe 1 racial hate if you want to only fight humans or something until level 15ish.
I mean they're good traits, but since pretty much everyone seems to take relaxed mind anyway I'd go for skills like that first.
