Ok, I need some suggestions. I just upgraded to windows 7 and now my trusty old Zmud 4.62 runs like dog poop. The screen is glitchy and the text will not scroll smoothly, sort of like playing in lag. I've tried RoA client with the same results as well as Cmud.

I'm probably not a ton of help, since I run Linux and not Windows. That being said, I run KildClient, which claims to run on Windoze as well. I have no idea if it runs properly under Windoze 7, but I like the client, so you might want to give it a whirl.

Almost, for some reason the preferences wouldn't respond to being changed and neither would the font sizes or colors. This must be a windows 7 thing. *sigh*

Instead of trying to change that in "Preferences -> Preferences", do it in "World -> Edit". That confused me for a little while, but it seemed to work for me.

Tried it in preferences->preferences and world edit....no change. I messed with it for more than hour, even tried rebooting the computer after changing settings...no dice. Oh well. I'll keep looking. Thanks though!

I run zmud 4.62 on windows 7, can't say I've noticed anything like your describing. Have you tried running it in compability mode? Right click on zmud.exe, properties, click on the compability tab and try setting it to XP.

oh and I've also seen that behaviour from mud clients when you dont have the proper video driver installed. I believe windows 7 uses some generic driver in most cases so you could try installing a specific vendor driver for your video card

You know what, I never thought about the video driver issue. I never reinstalled any drivers on either my laptop or my desktop after installing windows 7 because everything appeared to be working. I'll give it a try!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!! Unless you think it's broke, then uninstall it, then it doesn't work, then try to reinstall it, but it won't let you revert back to the old one, then do a system restore, and that don't work, so you end up formatting and reinstalling!!!!!! Whee!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as settings go, you might need to give proper write access to the zMUD directory like Vista. I just gave Everyone write to Program Files\zMUD\ but you can probably track down what user needs it so you don't have a gaping hole in security. =)
