Hola.
I want the perm spell on my mage. Atm he is conjurer and I believe that you must be in alteration to be able to learn perm? But is it possible to change to alt and the learn spell and then change back to conjuration(I like my cheap aa)?
Also when you got the spell, do you have to perm each spell seperately? Or can you cast ar + es and perm both by casting the spell once?

You can learn the Perm spell without changing schools. You can in fact learn all spells from the other schools, however they cost 2x the normal amount of study hours. Most players pick their primary based on the offensive spells they plan on using, so that they are cheap casting cost, and then learn the defensive spells (the ones you don't use often) like perm, and armour, from their secondary schools.

Unfortunately.... he missed a slightly important point. You have to be able to have the number of spellpoints it takes to cast the spell, at the time you learn the spell. You also need that many sps just to cast perm if you're in another school besides alteration. The out of school casting cost to perm is kind of high. It's normally 180 in school, which is why before higher levels, only elf and half-elfs could cast it without an int unique (maybe humans too, memory is fuzzy, but if I recall correctly, people were excited that at lvl 20, the 4 extra sps per level over 19 made it possible for a human mage to cast perm without ints).
Now with higher levels, it's possible to learn perm out of school, but you have to have enough sps. I forget what the exact total is, but it's higher than whatever an elf mage with all three int uniques gets... something rediculous like 270? So even though you HAVE the perm spell, and it's possible to cast it, you'd have to either be lvl 35 or something, or be mid/high 20s, with all three ints.
So... long story longer, yeah, Orphan's right, you can learn it... but casting it on a regular basis to make it worth having? that might be another question.
(Correct me if I'm wrong, it's been a while since I played regularly, and I'm a tad bit rusty, and they might've changed things in the meantime....)
