Trying to get th exotic well-preserved thraxi mandibles. I went to infidian killed a dozen thraxi, and found no parts. I tried "ripping" the parts from the corpses, and several other various commands. But I never found any items?
Is there a specific creature that drops the well-preserved mandibles?

Random Thraxi on the map don't drop a thing. Thraxi inside the Thraxi Hyf area drop parts. (look for an area within the desert area east of the main DDoor to Infid) Those parts are different weapon types, depending on which NPC drops them. They're also set to different WC / skill level / eval, whichever way you wanna look at it, depending on how much they got beat down while you killed him. It's kinda random, or at least seems like it is. So a battered insectoid arm might be a longsword that's mod skill, ave damage.... a slightly damaged insectoid arm might be ls, vdiff, ave dam.... pristine insectoid arm, could be ls, ex diff, ave damage.... and for an extra twist, with a capital "P", a Pristine insectoid arm might be ls, ex skilled, gta damage..... (Those are just examples pulled out of my, er.... anyways, not actual stuff.... ) Get the idea? If you wanna get a good idea what's going on with it all, wait until you know a few parties have dumped a bunch of that junk in the weapon's shop, log a fighter alt, buy and eval.... will take some coins, but.... least you'll know. And oh yeah, I believe the Mandibles you're looking for might come from one of the Thraxi drones...

Thanks! I appreciate the help. So I feel pretty good, I took your info, did about 20 minutes of adventuring and getting lost... alot. And finally nailed the dirs! From X-Roads: 2e, 1d, Enter Door (This is Infidian) From Dimensional Door: 1e, 1s, 5e, 5s, 15e, 1d (This is Thraxi Hyf) Word of Caution: It appears that ALL Thraxi auto-attack eventually. Even the ones that don't get annoyed by your presence after about 20-30 seconds and will attack you. Don't ever lie down, or sleep around Thraxi as they also move around, and will CHASE you if your run! Also, because they have a chance at doing multiple-attacks per round, it's pertinant that you kill all thraxi on the way down. Otherwise on your way up you will be autoed many times. Basically, come prepared, with heals. Monsters range from 3k+ but each fight like they are double their level. The loot is awesome. Also, Cosm's page has great info on Thraxi weapons and evals: sites.google.com/site/cosmofanguish/

so i kinda ran into one of those high guards on accident and was like EH i can take it. I ran through 6 mentals and preserved my lich like 6 times and i still had to quit out because i only got it to seriously wounded. Next time i'll be more careful before i just all willy nilly go descending through the hive. But the loot from this area is really really good so hopefully i can make back the cash from quitting out on like 50 salves....

The High Guards almost always stay at the lowest 2 levels. I would not recommend taking them on until necro level 25 when they become worthwhile and can be the ultimate addition to a regular kill circle. At level 23 they are reasonably killable for whatever adrenaline rush you can get from mudding. Below that, there's no real skill involved (skill definied as proper consideration of a limited quantity of heals vs Thraxi regen, vs competition vs time spent), just a stockpiling of mass quantities of heals and chugging them every round.
Echoing previous posts, loot IS awesome, so you can obviously go there and kill everything else except the high guards.
