I was just wandering if there were any actual drawbacks for choosing a primary clan?
Aside from the exponentially increased time/exp required for secondary and tertiary clans.
I mean, if I choose Tree as my primary, does Reptile and Feline begin to cost more sps to change forms, maintain form, etc?
Do the other clans lose anything at all, or is the time/exp the only drawback?

I don't have a shifter, never played a shifter and never plan on playing a shifter and don't know how this form stuff works at all. So keep that in mind as I write the following.
If you're going to play a shifter, do whatever is optimal for the drakon form, everything else you do is a complete waste of time.

*agree* UNLESS you're planning on maxing forms... then making Tree primary, Kitty secondary, Reptile tertiary makes a little bit of sense. cuz you're going to want to make most of your exp in Reptile form, and you'll have to spend the most time in Reptile. Cuz good GAWD, idling in tree form SUCKED!!!! and if you can do it with less staring at a blank screen waiting for leaves to grow, go for it!

If you're maxing forms, you're wasting your time in my book.

I generally opted for Necro form as my primary clan. I felt it had the most advantages over the rest, as it did not require me to idle pointlessly for hours on end and didn't blow donkey nuts.

While Necro form has its fun, if I want to shoot up in level, I tend to use Ranger form. Cleric form can be fun, but I never feel the thrill as a cleric. They're just too robust for my liking.

I always shot up faster with necro than ranger, but I'm sure that's just a style thing.

Calvin makes a good point, mathematically it makes sense to go opposite of what your ultimate goal would be.
And although I agree it might be retarded to max all forms if your not going to use them... I am a completionist, so if its available for that class... then by nature I have to do it.
So if I were to go Calvin's route, and 500 hours later, when I'm maxxed shifter, does Drakon form require more sps drain, or more sps per breath, if I took Tree as my primary clan? (or anything similar)

Not as far as I know... but I only have one maxxed shifter, and he's reptile/kitty/tree... but I've never heard of anything like that. I know magelings have a higher cost for out of school spells, but as far as I know, shifters don't. You'd probably want to get backup on that before you go that route and find out the hard way that you screwed the pooch! And by the way, another thing to think of is the ease of getting exp while working forms. Because if you do reptile first, then you can burn out a ton of exp once you hit drakon very easily, and quickly, and then just idle mindlessly in flower/tree form. If you want, you don't have to kill ANYTHING in tree form. Or kittys. But... if you make tree your primary, and then kitty/reptile, you're going to end up doing a LOT of whacking things to death with your leafy branches.... SLOWLY..... Just something to factor into your thinking.

Yes, I lack the skill to decide what to kill. With Ranger form, Harkke and Star Caverns have kills all laid out for me.
*twiddle*
Besides, in my short-lived necro days, my bashers kept getting turned on by my silly revenants for no obvious reason. (I duplicated the bug as a wizard, but I can't see why in the code).

It's not a bug dude, it's a feature that we like to call "Darwin". As you can see, it obviously performed its primary function quite well in your case.
