Re-read it again, coonass. I threw in an arbitrary number demonstration purposes. *spank*

I would nut all over the mud if I only had to spend 10k to suit up. Yeah, I think my minimum setup was like 30-40k.

From reboot? To get fully up and running, with my optimum eq setup, with Calvin??? I don't even wanna talk about it. Can you say 1,700 a pop hungas?

Well, in keeping with the topic, you wouldn't log in with hungas. So you'd still have to spend on those.
I seem to remember a conversation with Aram many years ago and him mentioning logging in naked, buying a hunga (I think), killing for stone dagger, and then killing for armor. This process would be negated by eq saving. Said roguilicious orc would then simply log in with armor and a weapon and get to work.
I'm not against saving eq. It's just that the game isn't currently coded that way, and I don't think the admin would everr want (or feel they were able) to change it. So AA is an eq-saving-less game, and forever will be, I'm sure.

Oh, and I mentioned the Aram story as an example of minimal cost to get started (though more time consuming, obviously). Saving eq would all but eliminate both. Heals and expendable eq (hungas, etc.) would obviously still be there. But killing for more eq with saved eq becomes easier, and the lack of needing to buy/kill for your base eq would also be gone.

A problem with eq saving is that it depends what gets saved.
Presently it takes me about 75 minutes to fully equip when the mud reboots. In addition I expend about 45k coins at the end of the 75 minutes (which includes selling loot from kills) according to my last 3 session scores. It then takes me close to an additional 4 hrs to break even. Approximately 5 hrs total.
Let me autoload a choice item, and it'll take me 30 minutes, 25k coins and I break even in 3 hrs.
As Lunger suggested in a different thread, autoload some chainmail or random rusty sword shouldn't be a problem. Moderate help to "newbie" and neglible help to powerplayer. I know the first thing I'd do is sell the damn thing to reduce my inventory space!
The only remaining issue is for choice eq saving. This helps out the little guys somewhat, but for the powerplayers, it'll drastically assist them.... and you know how the mud admin feels about the powerplayers who've been playing for 10+ years. They have to be balanced to be equal to the touchy feely inn spazzers.
Although it appears these guys no longer exist. Go Geo Line!

The Geo line is now just a clone of the Eldar line. Go Go Geo Gossip Express!
I think Ranger armor is good now (someone chime in, please). Maybe if people logged on Rangers and made basic armor for their guild, things would go a little smoother for folks. I know I can jump on my ranger, run through Harkke, and fashion up some stuff in no time.

Uh..... ranger armour is good? Compared to, uh, nothing? Ranger armour is pretty much utterly worthless, when compared to basic non-unique gear. (song armour, shiny platemail, etc) Even if you use dragon pelts, and make perfect -everything-, (which takes a LOT of attempts, btw... ) you've still got less protection than basic song armour and accessories. About the only ranger-made items that are worth it are the fine hide shield, for a quick starter post-boot shield, and the sheaths/hangers for the weightless +1 AC.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if the armor did get upgraded or not. So if it were -more- usable (though not something you'd run around forever with, since we sure as hell don't want rangers being more uber), then grabbing those from a ranger when you log in would be helpful. ~

It then takes me close to an adiditional 4 hrs to break even. Approximately 5 hrs total. I'd more or less concur with that, albeit with less time to break even. I generally found that old reboots were my favorite time to play because most other people wouldn't be out killing; they'd be waiting for people like us to do the killing for them and stock the shops. All I needed to do was quickly buy components/heals, nuke Resty, then run the armor circuit to arm my lich. Since everything was still breathing, I pretty much got to kill whatever I wanted with little to no interference. By quickly reaching more or less optimal armor, I could break even faster. I miss old reboots.

Good to see I'm not the only one who misses the old reboot length:) I love doing the unique-rush after boot. Pitty these days theres so few uniques worth rushing to get everything seems to have been superceded. My recent fav paladin tank getup takes him ~30/35 minutes solo to gear up, and about 15-20k gold. That includes containers, tower shield, dplate+accessories, GoT, spc (if im lucky, otherwise a turkey will suffice) and whatever weapon i feel like working. That'll include between 60-100k xp too depending on the the stacks (which is quite often with those guys). Would be alot faster but it takes like 20 minutes to get GoT, of which your standing around doing fuckall

There is an easier way to do it Still need a bash shield as a paladin (if your solo), but I'll leave it at that. Shitty I'll be if I go through the mini quest and hes still got that non-unique gauntlet, hasn't happened to me yet thankfully
