In general, I'm not a newbie, and know enough about playing to tank fairly well (usually earning 100k per basher, but i'm casual and don't really worry how each basher is doing... I can solo 100-200k with various alts of mine casually. (Which is average among the non-newb players I presume. )
But one thing I never really bothered looking into until now is HoH.
How does HoH track your best hour? Is it always the first hour of you logging in, and does it require you log out at the end of said hour?
I just need a basic newbie explanation of how the mechanics of this HoH exp-tracking works. I've always been a little confused on the subject. (No need for an explanation on what-to-kill-etc. Just how the time/exp tracker works so I can take advantage of it)

What I did for my run:
1. Prep (eq, heals, etc.)
2. When you're completely ready, go linkdead (generally just closing your mud client should suffice).
3. Log back in, quickly re-equip your eq, and start the killing.
4. When you've been going for somewhere close to 60 minutes, go linkdead again.
5. Log back in, grab a rowboat, and see how you did.
As I recall (and I could be mistaken), there's no magic number needed for the number of minutes you have to run. When you go linkdead, your session will be calculated out at an average over 60 minutes. Meaning if you went 65 minutes, your total exp for the session will be divided by 65 (to get exp/minute for your session) then multiplied by 60 (to get your per hour average).
So, if you're at 59 minutes and you're a long way from a decent kill, you may want to just drop right then. If you're at 60 minutes and halfway through a stacked 9k+, finish killing it then quickly go ld.
Good luck.

Thanks, that's precisely what I needed to know.
If I had not known the link-death info, I would've been completely lost. Thanks!

Make sure you complete a full hour. 59 minutes will not cut it for you. A full 60 is required.

I'm almost positive I've seen runs on the list at 58/59 minutes. Not unless they have recently changed things.

I'm almost positive you were smokin something.... It's always been 60+ 59.9 minutes won't cut it. You could go for 10 hours, and it would divide out your exp/hr over the 10 hours.... the upper end doesn't matter, but it doesn't start counting until the timer hits 60. Same as the Scythe party lists don't start until you hit 90 minutes...

Torn from GhanimX's page; pretty sure those are still good.
