********Title: 'Everyone take note!!!' // Khrystina <21> Tue Sep 20 21:49:45 1994
Legend and tales of old have it that far north, in the most desolate of all places ever known to life, resides a most powerful Governor, ex-warrior of a race of people not quite understood. This Governor, his mistress and their two children are said to reside in a large castle made purely of ice. It seems this manner of building of ice is called an igloo, but of course only one person has returned alive surviving the harsh climates and guarded passages. This lone survivor, Azime, a Moorish hero, after returning had this story to speak of:
'Seek ye folks out the Aleutian Ice Blade of power and magic. My Christian and Non-Christian friends: Treasure, power, and animals and creatures never seen before man's eyes await in abundance for those willing to travel far and wide.'
With that story, Azime disappeared and was never heard from again. Rumour has it he can still be found in the Governor's igloo. Do you dare the desolation and loneliness to seek out the power and wealth Azime spoke of? Be brave and take heed, my friends!

I'd honestly be willing to say that until Drakhiya, Icelandia was my favourite all time area ever in AA. It would still be a close second.
don't get me wrong, icelandia has NOTHING on Drak in terms of the shit that matters to lesser mortals (explorers). but omfg aleutian ice blade, ice blue cloak, snow girtle...
ok, I need a towel

The iceblade was a decent sword - this was when skills and weapon types didn't matter so it was a really good weapon for my mage.
The cloak I don't remember very well - can't remember its effects, to be honest there was a dragon in the area that gave random awesome treasure including a very good chance of a black robe, I tended to just kill him till he dropped a black robe.
The girdle on the other hand - now that right there was a lovely find (I was, in fact, the first mortal to find it according to Khrystina), hidden in a secret room under the area on a giant (might not have been a giant, might have been a yeti or something, memory is hazy). No idea how it evaled but it was +2 con when worn - you can imagine how nice that was on a piece of armour.
That's kind of the area you can get into the game when: a) The Balance Arch is the guy who stuck Fort Vaughn and its finely balanced items into the game and b) You're sleeping with him.
Oh well,

Welll...... Elvie was finely balanced... if you're an elf. And the golden fieldplate's pretty much a piece of shit. Crossbow tho... that's downright purty... And actually, she ended up getting married to said Balance Arch, and having 2 kids with him... so at least he wasn't bending the rules for nothing, right? Oh, and the area wasn't yanked because of balance, QC, or anything... Khrystina yanked it because of a bunch of pissy in-fighting between her, Ricochet, and a bunch of the other higher lvl wizards... right about the same time Ricochet got booted from Balance Arch. They told me the whole story (their side, anyways) one of the times I was visitin em. (I grew up with Ricochet... known him since we were babies... was actually a groomsman in their wedding and everything... hehehe) She's been back a few times, playing as Zared, mainly. I doubt she'd ever bother putting the area back in, because most likely, it'd have to go through the whole process again, and there's no freakin way it'd pass -anything- as is.

Oh, I don't have any issue with the fact they got it in, I mostly added that last bit 'cause it makes for a better story To be honest, I owe Ricochet big time for helping to teach me to code - before he explained things to me I didn't even understand what formatting was. It was a kick-arse area.
