I see that these are popular, both for tanks and for undead, so I was wondering where to obtain them...
Also, just how large of a difference do boots and gloves make? (Obvious reason for question: I've never seen anyone hit my hands or feet).

any armour that you wear increases your overall AC (armour class). so, just because you don't see them hitting your hands, you are still getting more overall protection.
to find the gloves and boots, explore dalair. that should help.

Pillar's post answered two longstanding questions I had previous been trying to resolve. ;D
I do have another which may just be a clarification. Let us say I have a piece of armour which is weightless and increases my overall AC. In addition, assume this armour is a shield and I don't have block as a defense style. Will my overall AC still receive the intended boost, under the specified circumstances?

no. that's like saying a rogue could benefit double from wearing a shield. they would (naturally) set their defense to parry, but also get the AC bonus from a shield. the only time a rogue should ever wear a shield would be if they had the inv room and could wear wiggy for the resists.

DG,
I assume you could be referring to a certain shroud? I doubt that shields actually add to your overall AC, just wouldn't make sense. Even if you were using block as a defense, there's no-way that shield adds to your overall AC. I could be totally wrong though!

Well, I'll just chalk that one up as wishful thinking. ;D
