I already have hard enough time killing things with 48 rapier. I can't imagine what it would be like starting over at low skill with a new weapon

There's no way you should take that long to get up to a decent skill in ls now, with all the help you can get. Try this.... bribe a mageling and ficer to help you out.... get a newbie longsword from the ficer, or dark ls, whatever, and work your skill up to 15 with zhou.... get the ficer to make you a vf steel longsword of skill/excellence/mastery, and get the mageling to buy a round of mentals and neurals...
go to zhou, train, unwield the +skill ls to have 15, have the mage cast enhance skill on you, wield rapier, have mage follow you, and perma-haste the snot out of you.... kill bunnies, deer, etc in burnham woods.... when you've cleared out them, go hit up the sentrys in Fort Vaughn (Hermit/Zorgon area).... the ghosts in gralain's tomb or the zombies in riog underground, etc... with 15 base, plus around 12-16 from ES, plus 15-48 from the longsword of skill/ex/mastery... you should have enough skill with that longsword to hit just about any damn thing you want.... you have roughly 10-15 minutes (never timed it) to work the last Zhou session, and with the mageling keeping you hasted, hitting twice per round, with an elevated skill that you'd never have normally.... there's no way in hell that you shouldn't hit 35-40 skill without a problem....
I did this with a fighter friend of mine, and they went from 9 to 57 skill in club in less than 20 minutes. Granted, you'll spend 15k in heals alone, and have to pay the ficer and mage for their time (and prolly perm that ES, if you're smart)... so it's gonna cost you 25k in the long run, unless you have good friends..... but.... going from zero to 40ish skill in a half hour's not too shabby.

What if i did rapier and spent the traits on getting weapon expert rapier? then i'd have godly parry and godly damage!

What if i did rapier and spent the traits on getting weapon expert rapier? then i'd have godly parry and godly damage! Or you could get weapon expert longsword, which is infinitely better. Longswords parry nearly as well as rapiers do and cause vastly more damage.
