The entire structure of the mud changing IS the reason that Lunger's complaining. And like grommy said, on the not an alt flame thread, nothing would ever get changed/put back like it was if noone complains.
Which is such a simple goddamned concept, that is SO easy to grasp, yet somehow seems to float right over the heads of people like you. Why can't you get it? God knows. Lack of intelligence can't be it, cuz you seem to be able to string two sentences together halfway decent. *shrug* I don't know.
Ever heard the term "The squeaky wheel gets the grease."? Take a look at a few of the changes that suck. (In the opinion of the "good" players like Lunger, myself, pillar, machine, and the 40 or 50 excellent players that have left AA over the years, in part because they didn't think it was worth their time to play anymore because of all of the sucky changes that made it not fun.)
Theft. Nerfed. Hosed. Fucking... worthless. Not even worth the time to bother. I used to LOVE playing thieves/rogues. Loved it!! It was a blast. I had a lvl 19 orc and elf thief, which got changed into rogues when they redid the class. I used to play them non-stop. The elf was one of the better thiefs on the game at the time, (Sammie) and the orc (Gurgie) was up to the number 4 spot on the Scythe's Top Ten Ear Bags list. I didn't even mind getting stolen from myself, because to be perfectly honest, 90% of the times you got stolen from, you could've prevented it. Packs, sacks, no-steal areas, no-theft combat.... if you got robbed blind, you had noone to blame but yourself. It was your own stupidity, lack of knowledge, carelessness, laziness, naiviety, whatever you want to call it, that was responsible for you getting robbed.
Did the thieves ask for the changes that nerfed theft? Did they whine and whine and whine and complain that they were losing their ear bags? Did they bitch about how unfair it was that if they didn't use a method that made theft impossible, and didn't put the slightest bit of effort and thought into what they were doing, they got robbed blind? Did they whine until a wiz coded a pocket worm? Or Watch? Truesight? Did they complain and bitch until theft got completely downgraded to the point where it's more of a pain in the ass than it's worth? Where the chance of getting caught was so much higher, and the chances of actually *gasp* stealing something worthwhile was miniscule? Did they want a delay put in between thefts? Or a spellpoint drain?
I think not.
I think it was the whiny little bitches, the players that don't have a clue, don't have the intelligence, the knowledge, the common damned sense to figure out how to avoid theft, that got all those changes made. They complained incessently about it. They whined. They moaned. They bitched. They cried their little clueless hearts out about that big fat ear bag they kept taking out of their packs, outside of combat, in a steal-able room... and how it just got ripped from their hands by some evil, nefarious bastard.... and how much that ruins their game, and how AA's not worth playing... Because if they can go along, blissfully unaware of anything around them, stuck in their own little world, never thinking about a rogue stealing their pipe... basically, if they can't be a fucking worthless little llama, and not have the possibility of getting penalized for it..... well damnit, they're not happy!!!
Squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Well, now they got their wish. Theft's fucking useless. They can sit at delair senter, ear bag out, pipe out and empty, pack unworn, for hours. And guess what? They won't lose it. Because theft's such a fucking joke now that noone will bother. I know I certainly don't. I gave it a shot just a few weeks ago while I was playing Pigbacca. Forget about it. Frustration? Annoyance? Yeah. That's what I wanna spend my time on AA experiencing. N O T !!!
Hmm.....
Necros. Nerfed. Annoying. Still playable, but nowhere near as much fun as they used to be. Set up time. Set up cost. Damage loss. Low Level pita. Yeah.... I wanna spend an hour and 50k to play for an hour or two, make back the 50k, MAYBE, and deal with having to use a lich, with a shield, and be forced to carry all the eq/loot/heals myself, because my lich is loaded. Um, thanks, no. Necros used to be a lot of fun. Hard freakin work, and I personally could only stand to play them for a few hours at a time. Yeah. Me. They're too hard for me to play for a long time. The guy that can break 700k/hr tanking with 3 different classes. The guy who used to tank 18 hour marathon parties on the weekends, killing for 7-8 million exp in a day. They were too hard for me to play. My fingers hurt. My head hurt. My eyes hurt. I couldn't come close to the speed that Sinister and Lunger accheived. Am I a normal, average player? Probably not. Yet I couldn't do it. THEY NEED TO BE DOWNGRADED!!!!! *snort*
Who do ya think complained about necros killing so fast? Uh... the people that didn't have the skill, talent, typing ability, knowledge of the game, reaction speed, and general ability to kick ass and take names?
? DING DING DING !!! Winner!
Again...... Squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Necros are too easy. Necros get to much exp. Necros shouldn't be able to kill so fast. Necros should have to take more time to set up. blah de fucking blah. Well..... now they're even more of a pain in the ass than they were before. I didn't really love necros to begin with... because the difficulty level, the extra typing mainly... Now I really hate them. Yeah, I can do ok with them... yeah, I can manage. I know how to use em. I can get pretty decent exp. But I'm not about to bother. Too much of a pita.
Now.... complaining and whining by the not-so-good players got these changes made. Maybe not directly. Maybe not entirely. But they did have an influence in what happened. Dumbing down AA to the lowest common moron... er.... denominator. They got put into effect because of someone "complaining".
How do you get them changed back? How can you get the wizards who did the changes, or are in charge now, to change them back to something closer to what they were?
I know, I know!!!! By staying silent, and hoping for the best!!!!!!!! w00t w00t !!! Ostritch Syndrome!!! Wheeee!!!
Um. No. You want something changed, you say something. Noone listens? Stay silent? Uh... no? Say something louder. Say something to someone else. STILL noone listens? Nothing happens to fix it? Hm... I know. Let's just be quiet about it, because we don't want to have a negative attitude that might effect someone elses gaming experience. That will work. *cough*bullshit*cough* No. You say something even louder. You raise your voice, and try to get others that feel the same way to raise their voice as well.
Perhaps one person can get ignored. A level 6 with no other alts that's been playing the game for 6 weeks isn't likely to sway the senate to change something. A lvl 31 who's been playing, and playing exceptionally well for a decade... well... he might have a little bit of influence. But suppose they don't think it's enough to do anything? What if that lvl 31 gets 2 other lvl 30 players who've been around for a while to join in. The Senate might begin to wonder if they have a point. What if he can, by "complaining" (aka, bringing his opinion to the public eye, loudly and clearly in the only way he can) get a large percentage of the MUD population on his side? What if a whole bunch of people say "Yeah!! Lunger's got a point man!! Why can't we switch it back to what it was before, back when it used to be fun???" Does half the population saying something maybe have more influence on the Senate than a lone lvl 31? Hmm.....
Squeaky wheel gets the grease, eh? What if you can't hear the squeak? or if you think the squeak is just something that really doesn't matter? Where's the grease then? Why not see if you can make the whole car squeak and shake??
