i have been playing my orc rogue, siaynoq quite a bit lately. i go on these bursts where i usually only play one alt. oh well.
i have found that wielding a curved blade on a rogue is very sweet for soloing, if that's yer thing. i've raised mine up to 69 now.
for tanking, katana is very, very nice. it parries like a mofo, and does considerably more damage than a jdr and/or gilian (both of which i tested on saturday).
for bashing, orcish sabre from either orc captain or mettertrop will work very nice. it does very nice damage and i've bashed quite a bit with it. it also skills just as fast or faster than katana imo.

My honest opinion on Curved Blades vs Rapier is that cblade is going to always be alot better. However the rapiers seem to be in higher supply, and the Curveds in higher demand. I think that as a player base we are lazy. I think it is worth killing for a curved, but most people don't seem to think so *shrug*

Rapier seems to raise just a bit faster than curved blade. Still decent speed. I like curved much better for bashing/soloing/ or tanking with only 1 basher. For tanking big parties I prefer rapier for the extra parry since the extra dmg doesnt matter as much.

The only situation where rapier is better than curved or longsword is when your armour is below standard.
Why? As a general rule, curved hits harder, but has worse parry. But if you're wearing armour of gaius or ichor or starry....the little bit of extra parry is negligible. On the other hand, if all you have is radiant and a helmet, then you need every little bit of help you can.
but....longsword reigns supreme

My problem with curved and longsword and any non-rapier skill on a rogue is... I tend to get bountied with my rogues. Alot. When bountied, you don't have the luxury of going and getting yourself diablo, osword, osabre, or a katana. On the other hand, there's almost always a jdr in Hobbitat shop, or at the very least a vfr in Nepeth shop. And what's even more of an issue is you die alot when bountied, too. I'd hate to have put in 5 million xp into my 70 longsword skill, then die and lose 3-5 points. But, then again, not all rogues get bountied. But, I do, and this is my outlook on longsword, curved, and rapier. Rapier is the second most important skill for a rogue. Marksmanship is first. *grin*

Best damage dealing curved blades for an elf rogue?
I've been using a flachion a bit and it's alright. Too weak to wield osabre. WHat other suggestions do you have? I could just go and start grabbing all of the ones on the website and test them out, and I'll probably start doing that anyways.
My curved is now at 72.

i've never used them personallly, but i imagine that 2h onyx sword would be neat as well as the blade of sethic. oh what am i saying? karrot, explore more and find out yourself! edit: on a side note. who made that picture on aa's webpage? is that a male or a female? salome looks ok, but the other girl/guy is or is this just encouraging more shemales to play aa?

I believe the picture was done by Wakko.
I'll keep looking around for more nice curved blades. I am thinking it might be time to start raising longsword simply for damage purposes.

Don't know if you have the strength to wield the katana, but you're well past the minimum skill to start using it.
The Wrath would rock to bash, suck to solo.

Yeah I was thinking of tinkering with the Wrath to see how it does to bash with.

I like buying a curve blade from drak armourer after boot to get the ball rollin and its one very good reason to raise something other then rapier.

Yeah I was thinking of tinkering with the Wrath to see how it does to bash with. Given that it evals as ex.sk, is 2 handed, and gives bonuses against humans, I'd say pretty damn well. Too bad it sucks one handed or it'd be a killer solo weapon.

Methos' training camp, from one of the npcs...... dunno what the eval is, but I think it's pretty decent..... main thing is, it gives a good boost to parry n riposte.
