Well, this puts mage PK in a whole new perspective. I haven't yet had the oppurtunity to fully test them out but I hope that there has been some changes to the spells from when I was on the Mortal Council and tested the school (this was over a year ago). I'm guessing that there hasn't though since "ancient anguish is not balanced for pk".
Always fun with new spells but it's sad when they ruin certain aspects of the game.
I ain't whining... (not until I've tested them out on port 2222).

Nice to have some new spells to play around with...
Greystar and I did some preliminary testing of the dmg of Venom spit vs. Acid Arrow.
Venom spit -- Did between 45-65 per hit with two uniques, 40ish with none.
Acid Arrow -- Roughly 51 from the initial hit plus 11 dmg from the acid burn.
Fun stuff.

One of the things that makes the Drowgar school a little diff. is that the time delay for casting comes before the spell effect happens rather than after. This means that you could cast a venom spit immediately followed by an aa... ;D
I reckon that this school should supplant conj. in PK what with spider legs (extra physical attacks), spider bite? (summon venomous spider), silk shield (protects you from thrown weapons) and silk defender? (lots of clones to jump in front of you) on top of venom spit...
All that means that you should do alright even against a mage with ams.

Rhynst and I tested web shield a bit yesterday... didn't stop or slow or reduce the dmg for any of like 20 some throwing knifes he tossed at me.... so in theory web shield would be useful but I haven't seen it actually stop or reduce any thrown attack.

Might want to fully test it more however, we only used throwing knives.... dunno what Rhynst's thrown or mms was either.. mebbe the spell effects different types of thrown weapons more or less.

Few notes on new school:
spidermedallion has a special emote when a spell is cast: <caster> clutches his medallion tightly... or something to that effect. Not sure if it actually does anything beyond that.
blade of losoth gives special attack messages when used by someone in drowgar school (regardless of race). also, the id shows that it is more lethal in the hands of a drow mage.
spider leg attacks did either 10 or 20 hps of damage, depending on the attack message. this was with no armour, so i'm not sure if it varies, but they are easily dodged.
summoned spider does from 15-25 dmg each round it hits, and lasts about 5 or 6 rounds from what i've seen.

The summoned spider actually kicked my ass the other day when it was cast on me... no weapon or armour though went from full hps (154) to 60 hps in 4-5 round or so.

Wow, never knew the summoned spider rocked that much. In pk that's insane. One thing I was hoping would have changed was the venom spit/acid arrow combo. The best way to have this balanced would have been to add a delay after casting venom spit when trying to cast another attack spell (from another school) directly after it but I guess this wasn't exactly prioritized since it's only unbalanced in pk and not in non-pk combat.
And web shield. Thothamon implied that this spell could be bugged since it's only permable "sometimes" and appears to give great protection which is weird. The info file on the spell doesn't say it gives protection, only that it blocks objects thrown at the caster.
Has anyone tested out Spider Legs yet? How long is the duration and how much extra damage is it?
I need to get off my ass some day and get some study hours.

I was wondering how SP intensive the spells are in comparison to the other schools. Of course, I haven't actually gotten around to figuring out how to join it, but I'm trying.
