If only there were a way of putting on earmuffs to avoid hearing shouts. And yet, people have been banned previously for shouting about people. And yet, people have been banned for tells previously. And yet, people have been banned for mudmails previously. And yet, people have been banned for board posts previously. And so can mortals. And yet, Wizards are expected to put up with more shit than mortals, but still harassing both groups has resulted in bans before this. This sets no precedent, at all. They pissed off a lot of people, some people complained, they got kicked. Who the hell said they were annoying or harassing the general population? I said they annoyed and harassed a lot of people, I never said or implied they annoyed or harassed "everybody", or "the general population". No, they just annoyed a good number of different people, but that group isn't even the majority. Akapokas/Tylerdurden/Chucknorris doesn't go out of their way to compare Idul to Stalin, and Paldin to Hitler when they talk about them, and do such comparisons for years on end. There are 83 lines of demotions for harassment in the log. 83 lines. And like I said earlier, wizards are expected to put up with a lot more shit than mortals are. That's why they lasted as long as they did, because most of the wizards refused to do anything about it. Adinos was responsible for QCing almost every project that went through the queue, on top of a job which is basically 80hrs/week on average, from what I recall. He was more than happy to do it until Frosty and Wolvie started panning his projects, saying he gave himself preferential treatment (He didn't review his own projects for obvious reasons), and that he was the sole cause of the queue being slow. Malire, from what I recall, has a much more sane job, and a much less mammoth workload in-game. This isn't to slight Malire, who does quite a lot for the game, but rather to show how much Adinos was doing. Maybe Adinos' skin was too thin. I can't really be the judge of that for you. But he was a really good arch, and he was chased off because two players (TWO) gave him grief and hassle for some things which were out of his control, and others which he had nothing to do with. It's one thing to be criticised for what you do, it's another all together to have people yelling at you for what you have no control over.

Which just brings us back to the point that Musashi has loudly been hammering home. You don't siteban people because they're unpopular. No, you siteban them for harassing people. tell dibbs demotions of harassment Ironically enough, I"m not sitebanned.... I love how Wolvie's speaking for me now - saves me the trouble :-) No one's yet mentioned the fact that this was all a parting gift to Paldin since Wolvie and I stopped playing a while ago ;-)

Dude, if I could afford to get out of Boise for it, I'd be there in a heartbeat.
Recommended bars/restaurants:
O'Flaherty's Irish pub. It's on Toulouse St., half block up from Decatur, about a block before Jackson Square. If you're lucky, Beth Patterson will be playing.
Laffitte's Blacksmith Shop. On Bourbon Street. About 7 blocks down Bourbon is where the gay district starts (you'll know, because you'll start seeing rainbows and fleeing tourists). Head all the way through (about 3 blocks), and enter the decrepit old building on the left, assuming Katrina didn't lay waste to it.
The Blue Tomato. Best burgers in history. They're served on giant kaiser buns, and the burger literally sticks out a half an inch on each side. 4401 Jefferson Highway in Kenner (take Claiborne west, it'll turn into Jeff Highway).
I'm sure tehlung knows where some of those are.

Quoted from Popeye's mudmail to me: I'm not sure I ever used the term "Immediately" but I'm sure I made reference to the obvious requirement for Paldin to have his head smashed in for the aggrivation he's caused me. And likely I do for the aggrivation I've caused him. But you know, he's in Australia, and I'm in Boston. And neither of us are worth the energy to the other, so really how valid of a point is this? Not to mention - What kind of snivelling pussies are playing AA that couldn't resolve their problems like men in a physical manner? When did the game where we eviscerate creatures with weapons in brutal fashions become so violence sensitive? The timing of all this is entirely too convenient, though oddly enough. I've not been this interested in AA in more than a year :-) Not sure how I'm being punished though, since the people that I spent time with there are here as well.

I've got my own favorites but I'll be goddamned if I can remember the name of any of them... just kinda "know when I see em" sort of places. Right now will for certain be there for a quick weekend vacation 6/15 thru 6/19, but will have gf in tote. Will be back later in the month as well on business - when I can really misbehave.

If you have any descriptions of the places and a rough idea of where they were in NOLA, I might be able to hook you up with the names. I lived there for three years in law school. ;D

Bah, Margaritaville sucks. I'll always hate that place; bad memories from law school.
So my group of friends and I used to pull all night benders down in the Quarter. We'd start out the night (at around 8-9ish) at O'Flaherty's for some Guiness action. Beth Patterson played every Thursday night (she's just unbelievably hot, not to mention highly talented). Then we'd head down Decatur to Margaritaville, because my friend Matt just HAD to have a Perfect Margarita. Then it was back up to Bourbon to hit Laffitte's for some sazeracs, and back down Toulouse to Molly's on Toulouse for bloody marys, pool, and drunk Ms. Pac Man. Finish up at around 6:00am at Cafe du Monde for coffee and head home.
There were three problems encountered here. The first is that Margaritaville closes at MIDNIGHT. What kind of self-respecting bar in the French Quarter closes at fucking midnight? Second is that O'Flaherty's >>>>>> Margaritaville, and with Beth's set running until 1 or 2 I didn't appreciate being dragged out to a lame bar for a stupid margarita (which I didn't like anyway). Third is that Margaritaville is directly across Decatur from an infinitely superior bar (Molly's on the Market, which was open until 6am) with a far better drink (frozen Irish coffee).
Dump Margaritaville. Go to Molly's. It's better there.

I think we ended up at the Bourbon St. Jazz Bar or Blues Bar or some such nonsense, I don't know, I was loaded... Can't believe your coonass drove home that night, I was wrecked.

I think we ended up at the Bourbon St. Jazz Bar or Blues Bar or some such nonsense, I don't know, I was loaded... Bourbon Street Blues Company. It's about 2-3 blocks down Bourbon from Canal on the left side, corner of Bienville IIRC. It's one of the better bars on Bourbon, which really isn't saying much. Most of the places on Bourbon before the gay district are just too touristy. BSBC & Tropical Isle are about the only places in the first seven blocks of Bourbon worth visiting.
