Why does no-one play paladins anymore? ? I know they were always in short supply but the numbers they can rake up is unbelieveable, especially if you are the only pally on! Even tanking with a decent basher you can do fairly well.

i have stopped playin because i find my necro funnier... hehe and the pally is maxxed with almost 90 ls and aprox 50 polearm so i don't think it's that fun anymore... pally do great solo, best area imo is drakhiya for a solo pally

go for it bro! do a complete solo run, say with only 30mins prep (like grabbing pots etc).
No Gates No perms/hastes No uniques No mules/taggers
I might do one tonite if I manage to get on. Just for kicks!

Paladins are a pain to raise due to the mission, (why did I max 3, soon 4?) yet they don't really tank better than say a rogue, cures worse than a cleric, while doing about same dmg, and does way less dmg than say a fighter
(can't cure when nasty, hence its lower the avg useness of a cure, I DO NOT want a basher to tell me wot to kill).
And they can only kill fast on limited (and normally very hard ) kills.

raisin a pally from scratch was easier than change into one at lvl 19 imo... when u go from scratch u get 30ish missions every lvl and that's not hard or time killin, when u change class u get to do +600-700 missions to get lvl 19

I never raised a pally from scratch, always went necro--->paladin:) I had to do 300 missions but u dont notice them fly past especially when u stock up on ladders/caps/rations/cloaks/etc... The only bad thing is skilling but i suppose longsword and polearm fairly fly up. I even raised club as a pally to around 70 but it got toooo painful after that.
I logged in as Psychosexy last nite, was clearing out drakhiya while tanking every kill dead and made lotsa $$$! With 89ls, I grabbed a fine plate and drowgar longsword (forgot a shield....mumble) and was doing quite nicely.
No more AA until next week, but when i get back on I think i'll try out some tanking again, just for kicks.

not 600 700 missions, around 350, 400 tops, and thats only if you die, since if yer smart you can get over 1mil in what class you want, then leave class, advance in adventurers then join paly.

i stand corrected... it's a little while i changed class to pally.. and why skip all the fun missions tuga?

and only advantage imo of not doin a pally from scratch would be raisin polearm as fighter to 100ish and then change... because ls fly up and it's easy to find suitable kills at all lvls, and when u raise from scratch u get all the skills u want from the start except polearm that i think is a pain in the butt to raise as pally.. i get a skill faster on my 80ish ls then my 55ish polearm

The biggest advantage of raising a paladin from scratch is...
The fun of doing it!
Only playing with maxed alts gives way to little challenge.

Some of us are still newbies!
And after Sinister is retired, will your alts come out and play?
