1st time I played in ages but I went thru some of the new kills and got some info on them( rhcp.webworld.ie/whatsnew.asp). Cool area, we need more like this coming in to keep ppl coming back. also, the lotto is a cool addition. Pot was 95k and wasn't won so it will be carried over... haven't tried the sweet shop yet...

I think it's amazing! *peer* Seriously though, I would also like to hear your opinions on it. I had a great time coding it and I hope you all enjoy the changes, many of which should make Nepeth much more power-player friendly (i.e. Shanni will always stay south of the guard of the gate now, the sherriff won't go indoors except to go to his office, etc.). I look forward to hearing your input.

I like the additions but I have to ask what's with the rock?
And the ashes?
And the soil? I mean talk about a tease!
Heh, nah I like it. A good way to address some of the concerns raised by players, add a few good kills in there and put some history/fuzziness into the game.

From Calvin:
So, how many of ya'll have taken the time to check out the newly revised Nepeth? *grin* It's got a pretty d**n nice feel to it, a new potions shop, a candy store, a very nicely done library, stables for the pallywanks horses, (aka, Scythe cafeteria), a nice slum area outside the gates, a bunch of new guards, and it expands nepeth by a bunch of rooms on the south side of the city. There's also a shiny new 9k kill for anyone that wants to bother looking around a bit.
I haven't taken the time to kill all of the guard types, but I did killed the 9k and his buddies. Just to forewarn ya... they can be nasty. There was a little bug that Paldin fixed which allowed, well, a few extra npcs to respawn. That do some nasty stuff to you. Suffice it to say, I was standing in the room with Shelbe, a helf cleric, when the area reset. The npcs spawned, and in one round, she was deadlike. The next round, I was fighting 3 npcs at once, with a locked door. *grin*
Luckily, I put the key in my sack for some reason instead of tossing it, so in between quaffing murkies, I managed to get the door open and run like the little biatch that I am. *grin*
So, you've done been warned. Be careful!
There's some neat new weaps from those guys... I'm kinda curious if anyone's managed to play with any of em yet, or any of the potions, candy shop heals, etc...

Just started playing with the potions, nice names. Although I drank the invincibility one and still got my butt kicked by the first NPC I went and tackled. I am sure it's going to take some fiddling to find out exactly what they all do.

Oh and Serin wasn't kidding when he was talking about not going LD while under the effect of one of the new potions.
I tested it for fun today and when you reconnect you can't perform any actions at all. Only thing that worked was the guild line. Couldn;t quit out, look, type score. Nothing. Not very fun.

Any time you see all things not working except for guild lines, that means that an object is selfishly hoarding all of your command input except what another object added to your inventory/environment last wants.
In this example, the order I've listed things corresponds to the reverse order of the objects entering your environment or inventory, which is when most commands are added to your player body.
-guild object accepts 'cline', 'karma', etc. -mysterious object accepts EVERYTHING -other objects with other commands...
When you type a command in, the game goes through this list in order, asking each object if they'll accept the "verb" you've typed. The verb is the first word of your input. However, there is a way to catch all input, and that is to accept a "" (empty string) verb. So in the bug's case, the object is accepting any and all input, but is bugging, and all operation on your commands halts because of the error encountered. Since the guild object is moved into your inventory last (thanks to a bit of front-jumping code by Dawg), it's most often always going to be there. This is how one is able to speak on the guild line during death if you log out/in.
When you die, you're moved to the death room and given a catch-all command described above. Anything you type is filtered and most commands are denied. You can only 'look', 'quit' and a few others minor things like 'exa death' I think. When you quit out and log back in, however, the death catch-all is given to you again, but the chaos medallion front-jumps so that it's last to enter your inventory and thus gives you commands last.
Good day,

Ok, finally found someone to bash while I tested out my new connection. Startup (after party formed, applied, we started moving) took like 5-10 min while trying to find out where the fuck Shanni was. Then I go and play with sage to get some nice semi's to work with, and his spells start to actually work properly. So my views:
More rooms for Shanni to get lost in - Annoying at best... Just have her set up a fucking stand.
Updated sage - His spell once again, assuming it onced worked, launches kept weapons out of your inventory and doesn't just make you unwield them. What a fucking joke... all so he can wander back and forth from the stupid library. Anyways, I don't think I can stress enough how dumb it is to constantly have to pick up/rewield disarmed weapons. Bad enough the fucked up guards do it, now another one...

Ok... I've been waiting a while for someone else to mention this, or ask how the heck to do it, etc. But after reading the notes on the bugs board about the Nepeth Guards, and how the effect newbies, and everyone in general... I decided to say the hell with it and post this here (and maybe on the boards on the mud...) Sick of killing that fuckwad Sudian's overbalanced guards? Want to go to the Nepeth shop to check on eq, but don't want to waste heals and time? Well... Galt decided that since he couldn't get rid of or change that putz's guards, he was going to code a way around them. Here's how to find it: Ok. It's pretty easy. You go into Nepeth, south of the gate guard, and there's 5 spots to look for the secret Raven tunnels. The western gate guard's shack on the south end of Nepeth - search rubbish. Manni's potion shop - search bottles. West of the lottery and Library way - search dirt. In the new Library, go n, e, n - search ashes. South and east from the new Library - push rock. That's the Raven tunnels. Go d, n, and search cobwebs. The onyx key opens the door to the east. I would NOT recommend trying those guys solo. They hurt. They'll backstab. Not fun. But, they guard a 9k kill to the north. If you mess with them, bring plenty of heals. You'll need em. They trip, throw weaps, etc. Anyways, in that room where you get the key, look at the north wall. Push stone. Follow the tunnel to the end, (n, ne, n) and climb the ladder. You're now 1s of Misha. Wheeeeeee. To get back in, search underneath table and you'll fall down the ladder. *cackle* s, sw, s, push stone to get back into the Raven tunnel. Viola!! This also lets you use the nepeth shop without hitting the gate guard... It's got a few drawbacks tho. If you're tanking, your bashers won't follow when you push stone, or search underneath table. So if you only have the standard llamas bashing... it can slow ya down a bit.

i dunno if it's a bug/was fixed, whatever, but coming back to the tunnels and pushing rock wouldnt let you go back to raven tunnels cobwebs room. unless i missed something i'm practically sure i could go to misha using tunnel but couldnt get back using tunnel. wich is fine by me anyway.
