*grin* yeah... and why're you dropkickin piggies??? what'd they ever do to you? *poke* Speaking of Pris.... has anyone noticed that the suit of radiant armour from the Song-Mage, when you wear it, and it does its "shimmer" thing... and you type "sing".... sometimes it says something like "You sing like a sick frog choking in a rotten fly. The armour breaks its bonds and leaves your body, taking a considerable amount of skin with it." Now, I've had it foo off before when you forget to sing. No big deal. You screwed up, armour go bye-bye. But...... lately, every time I try to use it, it seems like a 50-50 chance if the singing works, or if it foos off. I got it last night, killed like 2 npcs, was getting other eq for a few minutes, and then went and had a cleric bless it 3 times. (which I threw them 10k for, btw) I put it back on, sang, went and killed anasazi quick. Then I got halfway to Achrya's garden, and it shimmered. So I typed "sing". And it fooed off. 3 minutes after bless, only had the armour for MAYBE 20 minutes... killed like 5 things with it, and it dissapears. Wtf is up with that? I'm not even going to bother using the damn thing anymore if it dissapears more often than not. What a joke. So... my question to the masses, and more specifically, if she's reading this, to Pris: Did you have to """"" upgrade """"" the radiant armour? or is this just something that I'm only noticing happening now, and just never noticed before in the dozens and dozens of times I've used it? and if you did change it, is there some kind of a trick to keep it from fooing off? Because in my opinion, it used to be the best non-unique armour in the game, but now, after the past few weeks wasting about 50k coins paying for blesses and having the thing dissapear, it's not even worth the time to kill the mage to get it, and certainly not worth getting a cleric to bless it. p.s. None of the words, phrases, or sentences in this note were meant to sound offensive, condescending, abrasive, mean, arrogant, or otherwise non-respectful to the coder of the aforementioned armour. Calvin's only intention in posting this note was to ascertain what, if any, changes were made to said armour, and if there is any "trick" or routine which can negate said negative changes to said armour. Calvin would also respectfully request that no ball removal, or chokeage with penises be applied to his person as a result of writing this note. Calvin would also like to take this opportunity to grin mischeviously, and wink in the general direction of Pris.

No... I just don't want my balls ripped off my body, and be choked to death on my own thingy. *grin*
(That, and I --- LOVED --- that note on the bugs board that Pris posted... so I gotta make references to it. *grin* )

I remember quite some time ago on the scythe line pris was telling us that she coded in the chance of failure for singing from the start, but for some reason it was bugged and didnt actually effect players.
Now i dont know if this is actually the case, but i have never seen it disappear while wearing magic resistance uniques, but it could be anything that depends on it disappearing. I also seemed to notice for sure that higher levels it disappears less. You are right that it originally didnt have this "feature" but it has been in for probably a few months?
Hope this helps, and let me know if you think magic resistance has much effect. I have tested it a little, but i couldnt be bothered testing it enough to be sure.

Well... when I start off getting eq, I usually would go zap the song-mage for his armour, so I didn't get totally raped killing paladin, sage, asty, riog, etc. butt ass nekkid. Sometimes if I'm tanking and there's a nutsload of claims for aog, and someone's got ichor and starry... I'll just use radiant the whole time. I've had it disappear on me about a dozen times now, and I usually have similiar eq. Most times dual jdrs or cblade/jdr.. usually a gammy or mon, blackcrown or stone helmet, turkey robe, brobe, msur or spc, and lately, spidey and nbc more often than not... and boots n gloves from dalair. I've had it disappear with all those combos, I'm pretty sure, so I don't think that magic resistance items have anything to do with it.
I'd imagine it would be based more upon alignment than resistances. Either way... the fact that I've had it disappear more often than not in the past few months has pretty much placed it firmly in the "useless" category as a serious piece of tanking eq. I'll probably still use it when I'm starting off at reboot, or when I first log in to get eq, but that's about it.
I think it's too bad that she/they/whoever changed it to disappear like that (even if it was originally intended to when coded). Sucks to ruin one of the better non-uniques on the game. (Unless there's some kind of trick to keep it from disappearing, of course... but I don't know of one.)
I wonder, has anyone played with any of the funky armours Pris coded from the flaw area? I had a banded mail breastplate of fire resistance or some nuts that I picked up in the shop. Cost around 3-4k if I remember right. Evaled as splendid or something good. I was pretty psyched to pick up something like that in the shop, and was all gung ho to test it out. Went and started killing. I think my second kill, I got hit by some magic fire/ice/whatever the hell it was spells, and it vanished as it absorbed the blow. Wheeeeeeeeee..... so it absorbed one spell, which would've done, oh, 30-50 hps damage, and vanished. Whoop-de-f**kin-doo. I spent 3-4k on an armour, used it for 2 kills, and had to go find something else. WOW!!! That was usefull!!!! *NOT*
I love the ghost armour, and the damescene nuts's pretty d**n good from what I've heard, but they're a bit of a pita to get. I'm not knocking her code at all, but I have to wonder what the point was in coding stuff that costs a lot, is somewhat hard/random to get, yet vanishes when you use it. *shrug* I know Pris "codes for her enjoyment, and doesn't expect everyone to love her area, and only a certain few people will truly love the area".... or whatever it was she said on the board that one time... but sheesh. Those armours are a total tease. *grin*

Hey Piggy, Mayb that banded mail bugged out when it went to the shop? Another possibility is that it might be coded to protect the person who killed for it but when it's sold to the shops that protection only lasts for one spell attack. I think Peblo should go testing that one out for us...
