so i'm just following machine and calvin into this dodgy shifter business, and tonight had my first real run with it Name : killin Total XP : 658420 Time : 1 Hours 39 Mins Name Lvl HP SP Line XP Share XP Myrdraal 19 151 126 ON 33 % 226229 Leader Serith 18 77 65 ON 32 % 205341 Valdora 19 121 88 ON 33 % 226229 <killin> Valdora gave each member 3333 gold coins. <killin> Myrdraal gave each member 26666 gold coins. Only drakon 2 - have no idea how much better drakon 5 is, so not too sure whether shifter in the end will come out to be a powertank like rogue/pally or just average like ranger. No breaks there, decent weaps wielded by bashers, and armour/blessed gammy on me. Some general notes - Cleric/(and obviously paladin) bashers help a lot of a lot, otherwise it's just a crazy potion guzzling session like a rogue who forgot to turn alert on. Armour spell and blessed gammy rocks too. One big hindrance with shifter tank is you gotta drop all your stuff the start of a fight, then pick it all up again - sometimes this is very tedious - and it rules out certain kills (werewolf, crot, alton, zheph etc). You yourself do almost no damage (at least at drakon 2) - you need a fighter more than any other tanking class...or at the very least a big weapon toting ranger or pally/cleric. This setup is compared to drakon 1 + 2 skillin fighters i did last night...was painfully heavy on the potions (3k profit each *cackle*) and only about 150k/hr pace...the cleric is quite important. And chameleon tanking....well, it's only going to get 70k/hr with a fighter basher or so, but at least that's about 5 times more than you'd get solo I'll tank more in each of drakon 3-5 and report back the differences i notice (hopefully drastic, but knowing paldin my hopes aren't high)

i'm trying to remember annihilator's shifter alt... -s something. anyways. i think he could pull decent numbers as drakon 5. i do know that there is a substantial damage difference from drakon 2-3. keep going, bro ;D

The tales continue...
This time i was a drakon 3... i've gotten frost breath, which seems to actually *gasp* do damage. But when i say damage i really mean like 20 damage every 4 rounds. But don't get me wrong, that's a complete buttload by shifter standards. Oh, and i can bludgeon 9k's sometimes now... i really should highlight those... still wouldn't come up as often as calvin's massacres though *snicker*
Name : killin' Total XP : 486705 Time : 1 Hours 2 Mins
Name Lvl HP SP Line XP Share XP
Calvin 19 178 108 ON 33 % 164976 Frostbite 19 178 138 ON 33 % 164976 Leader Serith 18 120 66 ON 32 % 156290
didn't copy and paste the pshares, but it was 11.3k profit each. Obviously a chunk less than the last one. What was different? No cleric obviously. No blesses, mon/copper ring with violet glow/permed armour instead of permed armour /blessed gammy.
Calvin (obviously) does more damage than myrdraal, (but myrdraal was doing osabre/orb, calvin dual orbs) and frostbite does more damage than valdora (well, you'd hope so), and i was doing more damage than last time cause tail does like 3 damage every round and breath about 20 every 4 rounds (gogo shifters).
But i wasn't feeling as alert this time as last time, could've gone another 30-50k/hr faster this time around.
So initial conclusions is that drakon 3 is only marginally better than 2. Almost all of the extra 80k/hr can be attributed to having more firepower i'd say.
Now, back to idling 12 hours for drakon 4. I just can't wait for idling 2 days for one xaerre form later on *snicker*

Drakon 3 and 4 are improvements, but still really poor compared to 5. From soloing, I'd say drakon 4 is twice as good as 3, and mystical drakon is twice as good again.
Breath damage goes something like 20-30 to 30-40 to 70-80. *grins*

......12 hours later, closing in on 24 hours in form, still no drakon 4....what can a man do? gotta tank more.
Name : killin Total XP : 608777 Time : 1 Hours 2 Mins
Name Lvl HP SP Line XP Share XP
Tanus 19 134 31 ON 25 % 153976 Leader Serith 18 80 69 ON 24 % 145870 Valdora 19 134 57 ON 25 % 153976 Calvin 19 95 138 ON 25 % 153976
Then valdora (and my armour spell) left about 20 minutes into the second party, and then a *cough* accident occured...so the next pstat looks a bit weird
Name : killin Total XP : 853990 Time : 1 Hours 42 Mins
Name Lvl HP SP Line XP Share XP
Leader Tanus 19 124 107 ON 50 % 226293 Serith 19 66 121 ON 50 % 61237
(*cough* same party, bit later, no it's not a 2 man, tanus does not do 100 damage per round)
A cleric is essential to tide you through kills like illarin and razar. But otherwise...on stock crappy kills like hermit and wyvern...the natural armour class seems to be more than ehough to compensate.
For anyone who hasn't played a shifter before, imagine having an elf mage with just a staff and a pipe in the inventory, with stoneskin on, dodging 9k's. Now imagine he's got a weightless star armour/ichor on. That's the sort of thing drakon is atm.
Conversely, imagine a lvl 10 rogue with 30 rapier, a thin rapier and alert combat on with a sai or something. That's about how much damage you do.
I think the above parties are about as fast as i'm going to go as drakon 3....let's see what 4 's going to be like.

drakon 4...finally
blessed mon, permed armour, blessed silver ring with yellow glow
Name : killin Total XP : 483947 Time : 1 Hours 2 Mins
Name Lvl HP SP Line XP Share XP
Leader Serith 19 63 40 ON 33 % 161208 Frostbite 19 178 76 ON 33 % 161208 Calvin 19 150 102 ON 33 % 161208
with a 9.3k each pshare
Calvin with cblade/fire orb, frostbite with crescent. We seemed to be doing a noticeably less chunk of damage than yesterday. (Frostie was even slower than usual, heh)
But i was feeling more alert than usual
As far as i can tell the new breath blows just as hard as before, and there's miniimal difference between drak 3 and 4
Unless there's a huge boost between 4 and 5....drakon doesn't seem like a powertanking class like rogues

oh well, i conclude my drakon 4 testing and will now idle my 30 hours of whatever it is for drakon 5 *roll* 2 separate parties....i think i've hit the roof with this basically 126:144> Name : ub3r shifter? Total XP : 501499 Time : 1 Hours 5 Mins Name Lvl HP SP Line XP Share XP Valdora 19 154 27 ON 33 % 71532 Tanus 19 178 62 ON 33 % 167839 Leader Serith 19 126 144 ON 33 % 167839 <ub3r shifter?> Tanus gave each member 13000 gold coins. Name : de-unstronged Total XP : 497000 Time : 1 Hours 9 Mins Hmm lost the rest of this...you can trust me i'm not lying i'm sure <de-unstronged> Valdora gave each member 13333 gold coins. <de-unstronged> Tanus gave each member 23542 gold coins. First party with ar on, and a blessed mon. Second party had no ar and bless had worn off. so yes...money with a cleric, or xp with a fighter. Either way 450-510/hr 3 person parties seems to be the roof for me, but i suck so who knows. Drakon's all defence and no offence....and drakon 4 is roughtly equivalent to a cleric with blessed non unique armour i'd say (who's working 45 longsword or something). I'm obviously biased towards rogues in the best-tank-class debate though, so my comparisons might be making shifters look better than they are. At this stage...drakon 4 iis easily 10-20% worse than a rogue at tanking

welllll by the time i got drakon 5, i was so bored of idling i lost complete interest in the character. I mean, 12+ hours of 'i know i'll get it the next hour' unrealised can really turn you off a character.
But then again, that was quite a few months ago so i might have some interest in trying again.
I've only killed for an hour or two in drak5 and it seemed rather powerful (in a different way to your average rogue or cleric). Sort of like a conjuration mage able to wear full armour and yet still dodge well.
I'll tank some other time, when i find some interest in AA again

first time i've rolled out the drak5, decent results:
Name : killin Total XP : 803399 Time : 1 Hours 2 Mins
Name Lvl HP SP Line XP Share XP
Suq 22 190 150 ON 22 % 178311 Leader Serith 20 102 57 ON 20 % 162645 Roxxie 26 198 104 ON 26 % 210686 Machine 31 185 186 ON 31 % 251295
<killin> Suq gave each member 13750 gold coins. <killin> Machine gave each member 8250 gold coins.
the breath makes tough kills a breeze, the armour class is neato. Didn't have gammy at the start, so drank quite a few potions and needed a cleric otherwise, it's a lot easier to tank as a shifter than a ranger or mage

if it wasn't for machine's fucking brownies and/or roxxie incessant "Bola?" comments, we woulda hit 1 mill.. and obviously, it was never my fault that we didn't get it. right... *cuddle machine and kick roxxie*

That OHSOFUCKINGGOOD brownie helped the party. I hit harder because of it's chocolatey goodness. It strengthened my massive orc muscles. It did... one second, I'm being handed a memo...
Uh, it would appear I'm not an orc in real life, so, hrmm. Yeah, that's embarrassing. Well... I'M OUT!

Oo oi! I'm glad I could make your work day a little easier! And I'm not worried about tax paying dollars replacing that computer monitor because I don't pay taxes. That's right. I'm a cunning rogue who steers clear of the government's greedy hand. I'm too slippery to be caught. Oh yes, I'm so... wha... What is it now? Sorry, I'm being handed another memo.
Oh... I, uh, hmmm. Reality strikes again.
