Graddam - trains carry Norich - trains guard Marika - trains rescue
No idea how big/old these wolves have to be though. I've started with a Dog named Bud (2 wis) and can;t train anything yet.

One has to wonder what was or is going to be downgraded due to these changes...

Well yeah that's a good question.
Although right now the biggest disadvantage is waiting for these tiny little wolves (since bigger ones can't be bonded) to actually be worth something. How long will it take for these wolves to gain abilities? How big can they actually get? Will they be better then non-bonded wolves in the future?
Once these questions get answered then I guess we'll see whether something really has to be given up. If it takes a month of play to get a wolf that can be carried over reboot and has a couple extra abilities then it's not really that huge a deal. Rangers are used to going out and get an enourmours wolf every time they log on anyways.

Would be sweet if wolves are saved through boot... guess we won't find out for another 16 hrs or so

This is prolly a bit premature but I was told --no i havnt tested either -- that it works with wolves that need less than 5 wis to tame. Also, I kinda miss my ranger so i'll prolly be startin one again soon so i'll be testin suh things as the kinds of wolves that can bond to u and how long it takes to bond -- i was told 15-20 mins -- and what not if noone else beats me to it.

Have at it!
I played around with the wolf for only about 5 hours. My little dog grew one size bigger in that time, but was still unable to do anything at all. Couldn't train him, and he wouldn't even ravage corpses or make friends/enemies.
Course then I lost my connection and the little mutt went feral.

the best wolf to get is the small sylvanic pups from lelyia area. The wolves do last through reboot and can grow as large as enormous. The more you do with your wolf the better it grows. Then again they are CRAZILY slow, just picture your wolf like a shifter, but just keep him/her fed.

Why are those pups the best to get?

So what Cory is basically saying is one would be better off having a shifter in panther or nelitos form following you around than one of these new wolves Just have to keep it bound. hehe

is it true that some rangers have been seen with "gigantic" wolves? what wolf did they start off with to achieve this feat? did they kill with the wolf alot? what race are they? are they cute?

i think the only thing that is needed is the wisdom of a half-elf

Has anyone tried using wis boosters to get a gigantic wolf?
It might be that all you need do is have the right wis for only a short while - just after you have gotten a huge (or enormous, can never remember) wolf, for just long enough for the wolf to start growing again.

i was thinking maybe it was a collective thing, like after it gets to its max size for your wisdom, that none of your hours count for the size growth except for the hours that you have increased wis. Like if it were 30hrs to get enormous from gigantic or whatever the smaller stage is, possibly if you spent 50hrs game time, but only 20 hrs you had a wis unique that gave you enough wis for the next level, then you would have to spend 10 more hours with that unique, and the other hours would be disregarded as far as size.

or, (i hate to say this, but) it could be that your wolf doesn't respond, pertaining to growth factors, to wisdom bonuses. just as wearing spidey with its bonus to int doesn't give us increased woodcraft, maybe crosier, greenleaf, etc won't help us with the wolves. now, i know that it helps in taming the wolves but there is always that possibility that it won't help us in growing them. just an idea..

p.s. i have a helf ranger so i don't really care.. hehe!

A little birdie, and a reliable one at that, told me that wis enhancing items, no matter wether they be uniques or temp items - WILL NOT help in growing your wolf. To have a certain size wolf - you must have the following..
Gigantic - Half-Elf Enormous - Human/Elf/Dwarf Huge - Orc
The orc has not been validated as of yet, but that would appear to be the pattern to me. I am working on a Half-elf ranger as well to get me a gigantic one.
