Okay here's the brief story:
As you well know the AA website has been webmastered by "the former webmaster of AA" for years now. The senate finally gave the job to Fir on January. That sounded good and I was just about to sent a mail to the senate and congratulate them for the excellent decision when I heard that Fir had already resigned
First of all, Fir got the job but without write access to the html directory! Instead, Jerusulum was authorized by the senate to act as a proxy, fetching and saving files there.
Another thing was that Fir was told there's a new version of AA's website (or some kind of "test site") webmastered by Levek in a process and the new website must first get the senate's approval and get installed before Fir can do any changes at all.
"I wasn't sure what my position was anymore", writes Fir... She also got into an argument about the implementation techniques that should be used on the webpages and finally got tired about it all.
Well, Fir's not happy about the usual QC process either...
Here's a couple of quotes from her:
"The senate simply can't trust anyone to do the upkeep without being able to exactly tell them what to do, and they're too busy themselves to do anything so detailed, let alone code."
"So the maybe fifth time during my 10-year career I hear from a non-AA friend, "what keeps you there if you're so broken over stuff happening in there?", I started to wonder what does keep me there. And decided that it isn't worth the anguish it causes every now and then."
Ps. Here's my chance to give public thanks to Fir for her great work with the Canticle during the last years. So, Thank You Fir!! Many times, it was a new issue of Canticle announced that made me to log in to AA to read it :-) The quality of Fir's work was always guaranteed. :-) (Gotta add that I was also impressed by the speed Fir kept on publishing new issues!)
