Replying to the Best Old Skooler led me to think, which style or techniques of standard tank/basher partying method is the best or better.
In regards to movement around the mud, I advocate a "both guys following each other or a multiple circling of following" technique.
My argument is that if one flees, best to not split the party up by having the other follow. In reading Mori's post re: the death of Bazhi. If Mori was following Bazhi, there shouldn't have been any reason for Bazhi to go back up to Chaos to get blown to pieces. I'm guessing the same with Frostbite. Although I don't have the details of his situation aside from him despising Ivanhood, I remember him mentioning that he was down to very low hps and decided to bum around to mud to get some heals.
With regards to heals. I prefer max drunkenness and stuffness, and sheal down to 100 (80 in the old days) over binding. Of course, this means work and we know bashers just like to sit on their collective arses nowadays. What do you guys think?
And oh yeah, I don't like partying with non-scythers.

I'm with you there on the sheals Sinister. Like, I don't really agree with a scythe fighter wasting SPS on disarms when they could be providing the tank with fairly constant sheals, providing the tank is in scythe. If bashers could just keep me binded and provide the odd sheals while smoking/binding themselves constantly, AA would be a MUCH nicer place to tank:)

please excuse the last post. he is not well-liked by females in general and his lack of length is embarassing...
anyways... disarming is not a waste of sps at all. i practically have to beg my bashers to even do it. bashers have plenty of sps to both disarm and sheal.
bashers should constantly bind the tank. always. i get so pissed when i check my desc and don't see myself bound. lazy ass bashers.

another thought:
all i that i require of a basher are these simple steps:
1. keep me bound 2. keep up (i.e. don't make me wait on you in an area) 3. sell when i hit a shop 4. make fun of the other bashers 5. conjure dolls of blackened and stab in the ass repeatedly 6. drop heals/get heals promptly 7. don't assist -- use your alias system and type 'kill <monster>' within the first two rounds of the fight 8. DO NOT MAKE ME WAIT ON YOU AT X
that's pretty much about it. i don't care what weapon they wield, how strong they are, what guild they are in, etc. most of the bashers i take are friends anyways. i dunno.
p.
p.s. next time you see blackened on, ask him if he'll tank or mentor for you. he's a nice guy.

i just wanted to say i hate bashers who starts there assist trigger/dotimes whatever and leave the pc or turns on the tv and don't bother lookin what happens on aa..... i want as anyone else tankin, bashers who pay attention, bind, take stuff, drop heals when fight starts not when it's almost over for the tank or the npc. i don't require much of bashers but i require the basics and i don't think that's much trouble. i have bashed like 2-3 years of my time on aa so i think i know what bashin is all about, thou i have gotten lazy and start usin assist some times, but that's only because i bash alot for necros and i'm only allowed to assist undead so this was my 2 cents in this thread

Two questions:
1) I've never heard of the "don't use assist" idea. What are the damages to assisting?
2) When Blain was necro, I had at least two bashers that my rev suddenly turned on. Does that have to do with them assisting, or something totally unrelated?

Blain,
I think what most people are saying is that using the assist command makes bashers lazy and loses out on the extra attack you get at the start of combat. However, when partying with a necro tank you should always use "assist undead" because if you "assist necro" then there appears to be a chance that the undead will turn on bashers.
I don't see why bashers don't use - "kill orc", "kill human", "kill elf", "kill dwarf", "kill brigand", "kill dragon", "kill goblin" - as these cover the vast majority of kills.
Btw, please register Blain, as I'm thinking of making the boards viewable/writeable only if you register.

If you want any real tank to like you, you will use at least 2 containers. And its actually quite easy to fix it no matter wot kinda container you have. Personally I have sack and pack, then I just make nicks so it fits. Like with 2 sacks, i have 'nick pack sack 2', making my alias work like I have one of each. And if you are doing the heals, you should spend the few extra alias to keep em in a sack, carry twice as much, can even do half the normal amount of heals. Personally I prefer doing my own damn heals, since basher are slow, drops em at npcs that eats them, sell em at shop and generally doesn't bother to drop em. IF I get to loaded with heals, the basher just keep carrying until I got room, they he can transfer all. AND NEVER NO FUCKING PASSING HEALS IN COMBAT!!! You sure left out a ton of races, and many niftly little thingies to enter/leave places, but heck, you got the point

All this bullshit about assisting bashers sucking, that's all it is. Name one basher who "kills" every NPC and doesn't average missing at least one round of the combat from when the tank attacks? There are none. Assisting gets roughly the same number of hits. Stop whining.
Disarming- DEFINITELY worth it.
